Yesterday, a friend of mine on MSN Messenger (Now Windows Messenger) just told me that he has Bravesentry on his PC. He first noticed a Bravesentry icon on his desktop, which he didn't download. After he noticed that, he ran Spybot which pointed out that he had a virus called Bravesentry. He also said that he went "afk" and someone started talking to one of his friends through his Messenger.
I don't have all of the specific details, but he is unable to start his computer in normal mode because of Bravesentry.
Here is the MSN convo:
Flame ???? says:
Did this person get on your computer, or did he talk to your friend from somewhere else?
Tom... says:
he was talking threw my msn
Tom... says:
like its programed
Tom... says:
it said "from tom.."
Tom... says:
the msn name was "*"
Tom... says:
like *
Tom... says:
and his name irl is adam (Tom's Friend is Adam)
Tom... says:
like how did he know it was adam
Any information on getting rid of this will be greatly appreciated. As for me, I won't be able to reply back until at least 8:45 tonight (5:15 right now) because I will be in class. I will give the link to him so he can get the information if any is posted.
EDIT: He ran Spybot Search and Destroy and it said it removed it from his PC. However, I know all too well (first hand) that some viruses will hang around. If anyone knows any information about this virus sticking to any files (especially the RESTORE archives) post it here. Other than that, problem may have been solved.
