Hello to whoever may be reading this. This is my first upgrade in a while, and I'm having some trouble and I hope someone here with a little more knowledge than I can help me out. This is my First LCD monitor and my first upgrade in 4 years.
I'm having a problem getting DVI-D to work with this card and monitor. Everytime I bootup it automatically puts it in DVI-A (analog) mode. I'm running the recommended 1600x1200 screen size. This is a fresh install of XP SP2. Is there any way to FORCE the card to only use DVI-D? Also, whenever I first got the computer up and running, I noticed that I had to use DVI-2 instead of DVI-1. I could not get any output on DVI-1 and thought something was wrong with one of the components initially. Then I moved the cable to the other output and I was able to get an output. BTW, I never swap the cable with the monitor on. I'm not stupid. I don't know what the deal is, if anyone with any suggestions could please help me out I'd greatly appreciate it.
I just put together a new computer:
Opteron 170
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
XFX 7900GT (520MHz)
Viewsonic VP2030b 20.1"
nForce4: 6.70 (Did not install IDE drivers or Firewall)
Forceware: 84.21
Currently running everything at stock speed, no overclocking until I know everything is working right.
* Also, I was having an issue with my older computer, which has a Geforce4 TI4600. Every other time the computer would boot it would use either the DVI-D or DVI-A input. It would always swap between the 2 on every boot. Is there something wrong with this monitor perhaps?
