I cant really think of anything hardware wise...

But when you install the software!
1. Update Windows XP to Service Pack 1
2. Install all updates on Windows XP
3. Install DirectX 9
4. Install motherboard drivers
5. Go on from there!

EDIT: I now see that you are using Win 2K. Honestly I have heard that it does not perform as well in games as Windows XP but have not acutually seen this first hand. There is also a meager 3FPs difference between XP Pro and Home if you care. (Home is the higher FPS rate.)

In my opinion win2k will handle that system just fine. Oh, and you don't need a site to instruct you on how to install win2k properly, the whole installation runs on a big wizard.

For Win2K, I usally install Win2K, get my broadband connection working and immediately go to Windows Update to get the latest service pack and patches. Once the Windows updates are done, I install drivers for any devices that are still showing unknown in Device Manager.

Once everything is configured, you might want to look for one of those websites that explain all the Services that run on Windows 2000/XP. Sorry, I don't have any links. There are many Services that you can disable to free up resources.

Win2k is just fine with games... always has been for me since the graphics drivers were brought up to speed about 2-3 months after launch. Since then I have had 0 problems with it... not as easy to rice up but my system is to go and not to show (check out the OT desktop threads to see what I mean with riced)

Install W2k from the CD as normal
(Think beforehand how you want the partitions. On my primary 60GB drive I have a system partition 6GB for OS and all serious programmes, Junk storage for P2P ca 20GB, MP3s 7GB, and the rest for Games. Used NTFS throughout)
Install Direct X & Drivers for Sound, Video, Network, PPPOE, Mainboard etc...
Install SP3
Go Into Services and deactivate instant messaging & remote registry access.
Set the swap file to a constant value (about 512 - 768 MB)
Setup Internet Connection
Check the MS website for other needed updates (IE6 sp1, network security updates etc.)
Install other utilities like mainboard monitor or similar
Install the Games
Benchmark it and brag on AT Forums

Have fun putting it together!!

Just a word of caution, if that card has artficats (50% luck of the draw for non-af) and you run it at stock, your stuck with a card that performs slightly faster than a $70 8500LE. If it has no AF, Congrats!
