I've used the pill, Depo provera, Norplant, and condoms. Now I use nothing (spouse got the snip.)

The pill was a pain to remember to take every day, though I took it for 7 or 8 years with no real problems. Depo was fine, a few shots a year and nothing to think about. Norplant wasn't good for me, one of them migrated deep before scar tissue cemented it in place, and I discovered I get keloid scarring, so it was painful in and painful after I got them out (3 years later because we decided to procreate.) Condoms suck. No really, they suck.

Don't worry about it. The chances that you'll accidentally impregnate your hand are almost zero.

Overall I would recommend that you try out different types of condoms, and do more research on the dangers of the listed methods. The actual dangers are often so remote as to be trivial.
Many people find that they do not lose sensitivity with non-lubricated condoms (like Gold Coins) and you could try Kimono Microthin condoms.
Also note that only a condom and continuous abstinence provide any protection from STDs.

As for the methods, this list is fairly comprehensive:

Rhythm method - has been proven to be worse then not doing anything. It can actually improve the odds of pregnancy, mainly because most people do not use it correctly.

Withdrawal Method (Pulling out) - under clinical trials has proved to be about 30-35% effective.

IUD - about 99% effective, but there is some claims of health risks.

Spermicide - about 74% effective when used alone.

Diaphragm - about 84% effective when used properly, but using it properly includes using spermicide.

Contraceptive Sponge - about 84% effective also uses spermicide.

Tubal Ligation or Vasectomy - both at 99.99% effective, this is a surgery and comes with all the dangers of any surgery, it also has a risk of permanent infertility.

Essure Permanent Birth Control System - about 99.8% effective, this is permanent sterilization.

Continuous Abstinence ? this is from 100 ? 99.999999999% effective. It is also rather boring.

Just use condoms without spermicides, you should be less irritated but still provides decent protection...

35%? Shens.

Not necessarily... it depends whether the clinical trials took into account the women's cycles... given that there are only certain days in the month a woman CAN become pregnant, it may be totally useless but still give you 35% effectiveness...

These numbers come from real world trials. They take a group of couples and teach them how to properly use the withdraw method and then track their success based on how many get pregnant. The problem with the withdraw method is that even if you have the will power to always pull out in time, men start to release sperm before they actually ejaculate. There has been plenty of test subjects for this to make these number very reliable.

That joke actually works better for the rhythm method which actually shows numbers worse then no contraception at all. One of the doctors on my team use to joke that the rhythm method only worked for nine months.

well, ok, how about if we don't want babies after marriage? that seems like a dumb comment to make.

I am using the patch and am VERY happy with it. *knock on wood* I find it much better than the pills because i do not have to remember to take them at the same time each day.
