need opinion on this deal/mobo

currently I have a s939 x2 3800+ and a 8800gt. I've been living under a rock since the s939 era so I don't know which are the good boards/cpu. This system is mainly for games, like company of heroes and the upcoming red alert3/starcraft2. I'm also on a budget so I'm looking for the best deal. Would it cheaper/better getting something else? How good is it for overclocking on air? I live in the u.s. so tigerdirect is cheap/notax. I also avoid newegg deals because they charge tax to california residents = (

q6600 costs 275$, 4gb of ram costs 65-90$, meaning you are paying roughly 70$ for the mobo. Dunno, I'd rather have a q6600 + abit ip35-e + 2x2gb of ram, for 400$ then a 680i mobo. Or even a e8400 for less money, since it's better for gaming then a q6600 anyways.

It depends on how far you want to overclock the processor I guess, but from what I've heard the quad cores don't overclock particularly well on the 680i chipset.
