i have done a bit of research through my friends and one that has the treo650 says it doesn't wear very well (i looks like sh!t and she has only had it 3 mos) and also, she hits buttons with her face and that a lot of people can not hear her due to the mic placement.
can anybody comment on these issues?
The group of docs I work with just bought a crapload of Treo 650's the replace their 600's they hated the 600's and dislike the 650's even more because of these issues and they've had several die already.
They've only had them a couple of months & are looking for something different.

anyone that uses their cell phone for more than say (approximately) 1000 minutes a month and receives a lot of calls, SHOULD NOT use one of these devices as their primary phone.

are they just not as good as a regular cell? because i have used motorola and nokia regular cells and have had issues with them...
the primary phone will be land line phone, but the cell will be needed when on the road. it would definately be used as a secondary phone with either a biz land line or home land line phone being primary.

my primary cell phone is the v710 and i run my business off it. does it have issues, yes but overall has been very reliable. i tried switching over to the audiovox 6600 as my primary phone and it was just not reliable enough. i had to pull the battey out of it 2 or 3 times a day because it would freeze. ironically, since i started using it just as a pda with internet access via verizon wireless, i've not had one problem with it.
it just doesn't like going into the phone mode or something.
the other thing is, in my opinion, there are just too many functions on these pda phones. it's like using a multifunction printer/fax/copier/scanner machine to run your business if your volume is low, you are ok, as your volume goes up, you will find you buy a separate fax machine, separate copier and separate printer.
same thing for the pda phone in my opinion. btw, my pda phone is a great weekend phone.
finally, the pda phones bluetooth handsfree features, particularly voice dialing, aren't as good as that in my motorola phone.

thanks for the info from everybody.
we went with the siemens since it is not a primary phone and does use windows. in all honestly, like you say if it was we would have gotten the best phone and best pda seperate, but for what it will be used for i don't think there will be many issues since it will not be doing it all, that is where the laptop and land phones will be used. this will mostly be used for a phone and then the ability to add contacts and business meetings when out on the road and then come home and have it sync up with the laptops info. plus we got a 50% discount off of the retail price due to a company relationship, so it was only $325

ok, i admit i am a f*cking pda idiot, but how do you turn this thing off? or do you? the on/off button just seems to turn off the backlight and the siemens manual doesn't say anything about it....make fun if you want but this thing will not turn off....is this normal?
I got these at Staples... it actually serves me well as a PDA screen protector... and the sizes are customizable as you're just cutting from a sheet. Works great on my digicam and Treo 600... and I have plenty to spare in case it gets dirty.Originally posted by: bob4432

ya, there is a setting that sets it to turn off using the button on top and then to not turn on except with that top button.
