need recommendations for wireless G router

bought a netgear 54g when i brought my thinkpad home (running of a belkin 54g card). the router is also wired to 2 PCs .

i may be imagining things but the network just seems slower and less robust (same goes for internet access) than with my previous belkin 10/100 wired router.

one thing i had to do to fix some issues with some online video streams (eg. msn.com) was disable the SPI firewall (.. left other safeguards on).

this doesn't show up with online speed tests , latency etc , but more in the usage experience (periodic slowdowns, occasional need to reset the router even for the wired conns) .. but enough to make me think about getting something else before the 30 day return period is over.

The wired should be slower because there is Wireless.

However feeling does not consider Technical measure.

Measure your actual performance so you can compare numbers.
