need somre help filing FAFSA

I'm trying to file mine online right now for thr 2004-2005 year

I've never done it... my mom actually took care of it since she knows the income level of the family, and other information I have no clue about.

This is my first time doing it myself..... do I start a completely new one? or is there one I cna just update? what do I do here?

File a renewal if you've already filed before. 90% of the stuff will remain unchanged. Just go through and check everything, and update the financial stuff.

but dang, i don't have my pin number

i don't remember it

they sent me a mail with the pin number last year but i lost it


I went to the pin site.. and tried to request it, but it takes 1-3 days to get sent to my email

If you waited this long to renew your FAFSA, you A)may not make the deadline, and B) even if you made the deadline, there won't be any funds left for you anyways, since the government *basically* allocates funds on a first-come-first-serve basis.

I remember two years ago.. I filed it the summer before my first fall semester like in june/july or something

Any more info?

I'm on a need base grant btw.. and a scholarship... plus $1300 per semester in loans.... will I still get all the funds I usually get?

Individual schools have separate priority deadlines though. My school the priority deadline was 2/15.....

Even though it says it takes 1-3 days, they will email it within twelve hours or so. You can always fill out a makeshift FAFSA and edit it for correctness later when they mail you a copy back asking for any last changes. Also, since your mom did it before, the old values should be on there so you can use them as a guide. Do it soon, don't turn down free money.

OK son. I used to work in a financial aide office. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov to file your application. Choose to do a renewal. You'll need your pin. You can sign up for a new one or have the old one sent to you. Your pin should arrive within 48 hours to your email. Different schools have different deadlines, although they will most likely all follow one state deadline. It just depends on what state you live in and when the state deadline is. Online fafsa's take 3-5 business days to process before your school has access to the information. And there you have the run down. SHABLIZOW!!!

It depends on whether or not you are a dependent or independent student.

Here is a link to the student guide that will tell you how to figure out your dependency status.

He wouldn't be necessarily screwed. He just won't have priority consideration, he still has a chance of getting some amount of money.

I was denied Cal Grant because they said I didn't meet the deadline even though I was days early. They told me that the forms must be not only completed but also completed and error free. So make sure there are no errors on the forms.
