hi i have a AMD A64 3200+Venice
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
OCZ 2x512mb EL Gold VX PC3200 ram
evga eGeforce 6800GT 256mb GDDR3 ram
Running WIndows XP SP2
Running Open Case

now i have a problem with windows xp's Data Executon Prevention (i think)
everytime i boot up and run some sort of program (D2LOD for example)
i will get BSOD says that something is attempting to execute non-executable memory
then after i go into boot.ini and changed the nonexecute vaule to "/noexecute=AlwaysOff"
then when when i get another BSOD it says that run memtest.
I did with memtest 86 that came with the mobo. All good.
Then i tried again and still same thing.
I took out 1 memory stick.
Now it is says that i should try to replace my vid card, or check for new bios updates.

PLEASE this is very urgent as that my dad is a P4 fan... and he will force me to return this and get a P4, he had given me the time limit of tommrow at 7PM to fix this. Now as any computer literate person who is not ignorant i do not like P4 so please help me!

Thanks in advance

dude just restore the OS

what kind of P4 is it? if the P4 has EM64T support, than returning it won't make much of a difference anyway, though I'd say P4's at 4GHz are so hot, you'd need an expensive Zalman fan with Artic 5 or water cooling

anway, you're gonna restore it if it means that much to you right?

edit: strip your system, adding a component at a time, it could be a hardware issue, rather than a software issue alone

kk, just wanted to be sure.

What PSU do you have running in it and have you tried to reinstall Windows? Also do you have all the latest and stable drivers?

You can turn off data execution prevention for certain programs in Start -> Control panel -> System -> Advanced -> Performance settings -> Data Execution Prevention. Try the other setting (turn it on for everything except the program). If that doens't work, reinstall XP.

i have tried all this, except reinstalling OS

my psu is a 485W Enermax noisetaker

now i have found this:
**UPDATE**

the system is working and both sticks of vx are completely fine - i wonder how many sets of ram have been rma'd because of this board????

steps to get up and running:

(1)pull power cord and move the reset jumper - i left it like that over night (if you pull the battery you probably wont have to wait very long for things to clear)
(2)system posts with 1 stick of ram
(3)go to bios load optimal defaults - reboot
(4)flash bios with what ever bios you want to use - but use the following switches: awdflash bios.bin /py/sn/wb/cd/cc/cp/ld/r/f that is important !!!
(5)computer will reboot on its own - go to bios load optimal defaults - reboot
(6)go to cmos reloaded menu and TURN OFF the auto update option - important!! - reboot
(7)set your memory timings up and all of your other settings

those are the exact steps i did to get back up and running.....this board made me think that at one point or another my cpu / ram / video were dead and none of the above was true - it was just this lame bios running wild....

the vx is now doing 260x10 again with the timings in my signature... what a stressful couple of days this has been !

and i wanted to know what are the switches mean

this guy was having similiar problems with me:
ok - i need help with this board......

i have 2 sets of ram - i have vx gold and i have tccd plat from ocz..........

the vx was working great for almost a month and then started to reboot and no post long beep etc.....

fine

put in the tccd and it was working until last night. i started to freeze at the desktop and just generally act strange.

so i reboot - bsod as soon as desktop appears........boot into safe mode - bsod

so i set everything stock........bsod

ok xp must have gotten torched some how........blitz it and try to reinstall while everything is at stock settings (tccd) and xp hangs and or bsod as it is installing devices in the xp install..

so i remove 1 dimm and leave one dimm in the furthest orange slot.......still hangs at the same part of xp install (installing devices).

so i try moving 1 dimm to the closest orange slot............long beep no post....

so i try and move 1 dimm do the closest yellow slot - long beep no post......

so i move 1 dimm back to the furthest orange slot - posts but hangs on xp install

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

so

what are the odds that i have to different sets of ram - both have failed?? i would bet that NEITHER set is faulty and it is this board that i once proclaimed as the best mobo i have ever owned - well my opinion is quickly changing and not for the better!

at this point getting xp to install would make me happy......

everything is stock and the dimms are getting juice from the 3.3v line........ and i am using the official 3.10 bios

what do i do now??

now when i goto a site with all the bioses there is one entry that intrests me:
3.25 http://homepage.ntlworld.com/a.leach80/NF4LD325.zip
1. Optimized for BH-5 and VX
2 options for drive strength
now does this mean that this bios will work with the VX?
