needing video card help

Hey Guys, its my first post on this message board...

Anyways, I like playing Counter-Strike, by Sierra... I currently have a 32MB Creative RIVA TNT2 card, running windows 2000 server and it has really bad graphics on the game.. i think its because it does not have OpenGL drivers available.. i was wondering what video card i could get to improve this..
I was looking at the Voodoo 5 or Radeon 64MB DDR...

Can somone help me out.. Thanks!

do any NT/2000 drivers include OpenGL?

All of NVIDIA's drivers include an OpenGl driver client. Download the 12.90's and see, but don't expect miracles out of a TNT2 now.

My buddy has a TNT2 m64 card (worse than the original TNT in performance) on his Windows 2000 Advance Server. Counter-Strike and Quake run without any major problem.

Just make sure you have DirectX8 and nVidia reference driver (6.50 or up)installed. Don't forget to change your Video Mode to OpenGL in Half-Life (or CS). You are good to go.

are you sure youre not running it in software mode? goto config>video>video modes in cs, and then click on the opengl tab. Also, the newer drivers released for the Geforce actually degrade the performance of TNT cards, so make sure you download drivers previous to these

I got counter-strike running at 800x600 using OpenGL.. its smooth!

If you're using the computer for games why use Win2k and not 98SE.The TNT2 and CS run more than perfect in 640x480x16 under win98SE.

why? because of stability issues, plus the fact that there will be negligable performance loss from win98 to win2k when running half-life

Try using both,you can do that.When you play games use 98SE and apps use w2k.

Well i hate windows9x becaue of stablility issues and im a mcp 2001, so its better if i use windows2000 for all of my uses so i dont forget the information...


My comptuer running win2k server rc1 gets a KMODE_EXECPTION error on the nvd4-somthing.dll driver....

If anyone has any informatoin on how i can stop this blue screen help meee please!

whats so bad about the tnt2 m64? i use it for playing CS and it seems to be fine, except when my teammates throw a smoke grenade or flashbang right in front of me...
