ok, I'm better now. I wonder how long it will be before asus/gigabyte/etc figure out how to allow overclocking? Probably about as long as it takes for amd to become competitive to nehalem...

well, if they really do offer a $400 cpu on bloomfield by mid 09 that would be ok. Lots of us right now are spending $350+ for q9450, and a low-end bloomfield with full overclocking potential and smt would probably destroy any 45nm out there (with apologies to those of us with 4.25ghz Q9650's...).

I just read thar thread at XS . Never laughed so hard for a month. If Nehalem can't be O/C. I will by AMD. What I bunch of lieing crybabies. So what if you can't O/C the cheap Nehalems . The none O/C Nehalems will probably be way fater than anything AMD has out at the time O/C. So these little cry babies can buy cheaper O/C able AMD cpu's . How much is phemeom O/Cing. You guys cry about cheap o/c cpu's yet AMD O/C just plain are bad . Have fun with your cheap O/C able AMD cpu's. LOL

Those threads will contain no more rational posters than the "wha!? I can't pirate Mass Effects!?" threads.

You will never be exposed to the cross-section of opinions from the distribution of all enthusiasts when reading those bitch threads. I have no issue with Intel charging whatever the market will bear.

They have clearly done a piss-poor job of handling supply vs demand of their 45nm dekstop parts. We can only hope they do a much better job with the Nehalem supply vs demand curve.

they won't. I don't think they CAN if they want to keep their profits optimal. Remember all the discussions that we've had about higher costs associated with new processes? Nehalem's yields will take a while to approach penryn's. In fact, they probably won't ever get their with the monolithic die, so it's in their best interest to keep throwing out tons of penryn-based cpus as long as they stomp all over amd. I wouldn't be surprised to see bloomfield shuffled into 09 and mainstream into late 09/q1 2010 right now unless shanghai can, um, "shanghai" intel.
