Well DDR2 will be around for quite a while, well after DDR3 going mainstreem with i7. Besides you are still using DDR with a P4 system and "waiting for Nehalem", no pun.
So for us whom already have a system to our liking, there isn't any need for us to just plunge into something that will be very expensive and won't give us any real alarming benifets just yet. As for you, it will, but you still have to pay the premium price.
