For one thing, it definitely impresses the natives. They're all pumped because THEY have a new Dell with a 2.8-gigabyte CPU and 512 megahertz of RAM, and then they come over and are knocked to the floor by your fully-tweaked-out custom rig that has features in places where their Dell doesn't even have places!
Oh, that's hilarious, and SO true!!! You win. See sig. You<--the kewl!
NUGGS,
Personally, I don't care for a case that has so much neon, LED fans, spiral wrap and blowholes that the case has lost functionality and there's no more room for PC parts. But, I can appreciate someone taking the time to personalize a case; do this or that to it to make it "their own."
Aside from some cooling mods, like cutting out stock fan grills, my "modding" has been limited to building really neat and tidy case. Wire ties everywhere, no cables over the CPU or any cards, etc.
But I just bought my first window case and some CCFL tubes. I plan on putting in a fanbus, which is a very FUNCTIONAL accessory. I'm going for the "sleek minimalist NASA type look." Black case, all black drives, black fanbus with nice, small functional LEDs. In truth, the neon will probably be OFF 99% of the time, but it's there for when the guys come over and ask "what's in the case? Pentium 3?" And I'll whip it out, baby!
My thanks to mechBgon for easing me into the fanbus/monitor arena. He sent me a few PMs here and there...just enough to get me hooked....darn dope pusher!!
