Netbook for farmville?

So I have seen the youtube video which demonstrates that the game runs fairly well. My gf is completely addicted and completely monopolizing my comp.

So I am thinking a netbook would be a nice cheap way to get her off my comp. I went to best buy all ready to get one of the Asus Eee PC 1005HAB with either windows 7 starter or win xp (which btw which should I get) when the guru guy told me that I probably want a laptop for farmville since in the not too distant future the game (flash) plans to take advantage of video cards. Is that coming real soon?

So anyway he wanted to get me into this $600 HP that had a AMD processor, 4 gigs of ram, ATI 320mgs video card, yadda, yadda. I really don't want to pay anymore then I have to. Really she just needs this thing for facebook, email, surfing but most of all damn farmville.

is farmville a flash game? if it is, then any netbook will do (1.6ghz atom, 1-2GB of ram, intel gma graphics). im sure it cant be that demanding...

Farmville (and all of those other stupid Flash based Facebook games) do NOT run well on a netbook at all. I tried it myself on my Acer Aspire with a 1.6 GHz Atom, and I was getting something scarily slow like 10 FPS while they were running. They also do not have enough screen real-estate to fit the game properly on the screen... you need at least a 1024x768 display to fit those applications on the screen properly.

Maybe a Netbook with a dual core Atom, Nvidia Ion chipset, and higher resolution screen would do better, but I doubt it. You would be better off spending an extra $100 for an entry level $400 15" laptop from Dell or something similar.

Running things like Farmville, 1080p HD movies and everything else nicely on my mini-ITX PC system which is a 1.6Ghz Dual Core Atom, Nvidia ION and 2 Gb RAM.

Got it hooked up to my 47" HDTV via HDMI and for it's use (Internet surfing, Instant Messaging, Emails, HD video including HD YouTube) I am perfectly happy.

I do have an AMD X2 6000+, 4 Gb RAM, 512mb HD4870 for gaming etc.

Haha netbook wont run photoshop cs4 which is all I use my comp for.

good luck, my GF plays that game and it can crawl on her quad core phenom, peaking70-80% CPU useage. That has to be the worst coded game ever.

I mean really her PC can handle crysis but sometimes farmville is a slideshow the code has to be written by a blind 5 year old kid with one hand tied behind his back poking at the keyboard with a chopstick.

my friend got a gateway netbook for the same purpose, internet and some word processing... SHE is not happy with the performance she said it just like a toy.

So get a laptop, which is just 100usd higher that your netbook.

Just want to say thanks to everyone. We purchased a Eee Pc with the 1.67ghz processor and honestly she couldn't be happier. It runs Farmville well. The only drawback is the screen size as it is a bit on the small side for the game, however it is a minor drawback according to her. Overall she has been happily playing for hours and I only had to shell out $250!! That rules. All of the lappys I saw that had any quality started at $400.
