You're pre-judging the series. If people did that with DD and the Ben Affleck movie they would never have watched the Netflix version and missed out big time.

JJ's story is different than most super heroes because she's a fallen hero. How she got her powers is fairly unimportant, just like DD who got his powers almost the same way (car accident with industrial waste). Do you not like the new DD for the same reason?

Oh, and I like Christine Ritter. If anyone hasn't seen "Don't Trust the Bitch in Apartment 23," it's a decent comedy, available on Netflix last I checked (USA or FX show, I think). It also has James Vanderbeek playing a TV version of himself. It's pretty awesome.

It was ABC. Vanderbeek was hilarious

I'm up to episode 6. Definitely a dark thriller noir that has a classic feel to it. It even has the self narration thing which makes it feel like old fashion PI noir film. This could have been shown in black and white and it would be okay. Completely different feel than Daredevil. It's pretty damn good.

I'm guessing the black guy in the preview is Luke Cage?

No one answered this so I will. Kinda.

In the comics, Luke Cage was a black guy and a superhero. He had like super strength and invulnerability/toughness. But not really all the much of either. Not enough for the big leagues.

Iron Fist was a white guy and a martial arts guy. He could focus his chi or whatever to his hand for a mighty punch.




This is based on decades old memories and may all be wrong.

It's pretty dark, especially by episode 6. I'm really liking it

Also, I may be (very) biased here but I love David Tennant as the purple man. Seeing all the characters he's acted (harry potter, doctor who, torchwood, the spies of warsaw) I think he falls into this one very well. An almost psychotic villain, but he has an unnatural calm too.

Two episodes in, I love this show.

I love the Netflix-Marvel(Disney/ABC Studios, no less) team-up. Which, in reality, is simply Netflix saying, sure, do whatever the hell you want, we won't restrict you. Make it like an HBO/Showtime production, please!

Which is nice that Marvel even went that road. They have a couple successful ABC series, but they are lighter in tone. With Marvel being a Disney/ABC product, it's nice that they saw the potential in producing content that ultimately isn't fit for a channel like ABC. When considering where to pitch the show, I wonder if it was Netflix all the way, or if they turned to HBO or Showtime and had been offered a significantly smaller budget.

Because so far, there was not one episode of Daredevil or any signs in Jessica Jones (thus far) that they were shorted budget... effects are spot-on and overall stage and direction is terrific. And they are getting the talent out of every actor, which means we should give major props to the directors chosen... great actors can look like drama school dropouts in the hands of bad directors (George Lucas, anyone?).

she took it up the butt like a porn star on her 3rd shoot for the day.

I still like it. watched 3eps so far.

I'm on episode 11. There wasn't a single moment for me where I got hooked, it just kind of keeps building, but I'm in on this show. I'll leave some time for people to watch before I discuss details, but there are some unexpected twists in 8-10.

I don't think this type of noir show is for everyone. In fact I think I need to be in a certain mood to enjoy it. I also couldn't stand doing a straight up binge like what I usually do on Netflix series. It's just too dark. I treated it as a very long movie so I just stopped watching and do something else for a few hours, sometimes in the middle of an episode, and then pick it back up later.

All the best shows have a slow build.

The only shows that don't typically have a slow build are standard network shows that, more than anything, are simply serial episodes with the Problem of the Week format.
This is a general plot style for chapters in all mediums, but it's the defining characteristic of standard network serials. Some will have a story that develops slowly between the standard problem of the week episodes, but it's a loose interconnected story. The larger and best dramas are more defined by the sweeping plot points that connect across all episodes.

Watched it all. It was OK. Nothing really spectacular about this. Luke Cage was stronger than her.
