Networking a group of laptops?

I cant seem to get them to talk. I need to network about 3-4 laptops. They are all members of the same domain in my office. My guys are going away on business and I need to allow them to share files and print between each other while their away.

I purchased a wireless router and tried to connect them wired/wireless.. but with no luck. Seems like the log-in is trying to authenticate but their is no domain to authenticate (I'm guessing). Is it possible to setup a stand alone network with members of a domain that are detached from the domain?

What are my options?

TIA!

If the users have already logged into the domain through those laptops, the user account should be cached and allow them to login without being attached to the domain. If not, you can setup local accounts on the laptops for the users.

No need to take them out of the domain, which you'd have to if you wanted to create a workgroup with these machines. Totally unecessary. bwcc had the answer. Cached credentials should work fine however if your running into issues just create local accounts and use the Profile migration tool if you want the users to have the same desktop, My Documents etc...

Where would the options for cached credentials be on the server or on the workstation? Using MS Back Office 4.0 (i think)

The laptops can log-in using their "domain" user account and password while off the domain network... that should mean that cached credentials is enabled right?

Yikes, I am still having issues somewhere else then.

All firewalls are either uninstalled or disabled.

I might have to resort to creating new accounts. Where can I find the profile migration tool? Is it within Windows XP?

EDIT: I created a workgroup called WORKGROUP and set two of the laptops to test. I can see both in network neighborhood but only one of them can see the other. 1 can see 2 but 2 cannot see 1.

Maybe I need to check my domain controller settings.
