Found this article interesting. Was on the verge of buying a 7600GT, but now I think I'll wait awhile and see what develops.

wait and then after wait and wait again for the next to next one ...
You'll never buy one ...
I'm not telling you what you have to buy and when.
By the time those new "refresh" card be on sale you'll see new DX10 at the end of R&D
then what would you do? Wait for DX10?
Don't take it as a rule, just keep it in mind ;-)

7600GTX, yes, very likely /sarcasm.

There's no reason for a 7600GTX to come out, they already have a 7800GS, all they have to do is bridge it to PCIe and sell it at the price point between the 7900GT and the 7600GT.

Hmm I don't think there is room for a 7600 GTX considering how close the 7900 Gt and 7600 GT are in pricing.

So right now we have this

7900 GTX MSRP 499US Street 489US
7900 GT MSRP 299US Street 289US
7600 GT MSRP 199US Street 174US
7600 GS MSRP 149US Street 119US

Where on Earth would you put the 7600 GTX assuming the 7900 GS goes into the 249US price point.

The 7800 GS is based on G70 which defeats the purpose of making it for PCI-E as it's more expensive ot produce then G71 or 7900 Series derivatives.

ins't the 7900GS a mobile part ??

my guess is 7600GTX = 512MB, 12 pipes, 650+ core, 1700+ mem (if there is to be one)

The 7800GS is a PCI-E part that is bridged to AGP...

a 7800GS is native PCIe. Also, they probably want 90nm on all newer cards for better yields

I read a while back that GTX was only for the top tier but I guess they can change that policy. There could be room for the 7600GTX if they lower the price on the other 7600's a little & slot it in at $200, 7600GT at $160, 7600GS at $130-140.

I'd like to see the 7600GTX as a 16 pipe card to compete with unlocked X1800GTO's or X1700's (if they appear).

Yes, the 7900GS that will be coming out is the desktop variant, and is rumored to have 20 Pixel Pipelines versus the 24 on the GT. Dell is already offering them with their XPS computers. The cost of the 7900GS SLi is $250 more than a single card, so prices for the GS can be expected to fall around $250, and may drop to the $220s or lower with future rebates.

Also I see no real point for the 7600GTX, unless they can price them at under $200.

Also, the 7900GS for $250 is still overpriced considering that a new X1800XT 256mb can be had for $239 with NO REBATES at Newegg.

Surely 7600GT OC version = (approx) a possible 7600GTX??? What's the point? Unless it's much higher frequencies? (But I assume that may start to require alot more power...)
