Hey,
Recently i bought a new 7800 GT 256mb PCI-E, at the same time i also bought a new 500w psu and another 2x512mb corsair xms ram to total my system to 2gb.
Anyway...i thought it would be able to handle bf2 all on high, 4xaa, 1280x1024 but my framerate hardly can hit above 50 most of the time(only in quiet spots). Usually sticking around the 25-30's. SF is even worse!
I've tried latest drivers and the drivers from the cd and still not much improvement.
Cleaned out old drivers with driver cleaner
My Audio settings are only software:Medium:NO EAX
I decided to download and run 3dmark06 and the graphics tests were running terrible
, comparing it on their site...i find people with similar systems with double the score.
My score at first was around 2859 but a quick email to BFG meant i got a reply telling me options to set in my Bios. I started getting abit better peformance after changing those settings(only abit, 3m06 around 3600 though!), previously i had to disable onboard to get that performance but now disabling it adds nothing.
Even if i drop all settings to medium the framerate isnt staggering, parts of the game with alot of activity take me down to 15-20fps.
So i decided to take the 2 xms sticks, the fps seemed a little better but definitly what it should be. I switched with the old sticks and its the same. Ive tried defragging.
Atm im thinking there could be a problem with my CPU temperature, in the Bios its around 60/65 C, i have a monitoring program and even with case open and playing a game it will only be increased/decreased by a few degrees. Thats weird right? I have tried reinstalling BF2 on a diff drive, D drive. Did nothin'
Thanks in advance for any help.
Mike
