Im waiting for a reply from acer on how to access the advanced settings of my Bios, then i can turn HT off. V Sync is already off.

I just know there will be one thing that is slowing my performance down, im gunna try running perfmon while playing BF2, then showing you the end graph.

From the looks of Anandtech's review, you should be getting a little better performance than you are. Although, they used an FX-57 for their testing which might have bumped the results up a bit over what your cpu would get.

Try downloading Rivatuner and use the Hardware Monitor tab to watch your gpu clock speeds during a run of 3DMark05 (or 3DMark06). It will graph out the speeds for you and after 3DMark finishes, you can see the results by just mousing over the graph line (or just visually inspecting it). It's a good way to ensure that your card is running at the speeds it should.

Already have, seems to be fine and the GPU doesn't heat up much.
Im not being the type who expects over the top fps but how im playing it now is not fun atall. 20-30 fps in heavy combat, maybe 35-40 walkin through a street in BF2, ive talked to people with the same card who say they get 60-70 Fps Average.

TY for all the replies

Look on the side of your Power Supply and see how many amps it's rated at for the +12V rail. You should be able to get at least 60 to 70 fps average with that setup(especially at only 1280x1024). I'm currently running an eVGA 7800GT @515/1220. In BF2 @ 1600x1200, max settings, and 4xAA I get a minimun of around 35fps during arty but it usually hovers around 60 to 70fps. Sometimes it even pegs out at 99.9fps. Depends on the map though.

You really should try getting a dedicated power cable running to the card. If you don't have any left just get a new psu. Sounds like a throttling issue with the graphics card to me. Probably due to power or heat.

Try to get the amperage rating of the psu for us.

I spent £60 on it!

This is what it says on the psu:

AC Input: 110-120/220-240V-, 10/6A, 60/50hz
DC output: 460W (500w preak 1.5 sec per 30 sec) +12V1-17.5A,+12V2-17.5A
+12v2-16.0A (Yel/black), +5VSB-2.0A(purp),12V-0.5A (blue)

I just found your problem, You have an INTEL CPU. Intel GREATLY reduces Framerates. Here is you can fix.

1 remove all intel crap
2 install brand new amd stuff
3 take full advantage of your new 7800GT

I have a FX-57 equivalent, and i get 4200 in 3dmark06 with my 7800GT.

17.5 amps should be fine then. Who makes it?

In 3D mark 06 in get 4700+ with an X2 though

Have you monitored your temps while playing BF2?

Temps, cpu stays around 55-65, its always that temp :s. No core frequency changes on the card while playing BF2.

Crescent, i know Intel sucks; ill be sure to get myself and AMD when i get a new system. But i dont think that explains my prob.

Edit: Its an FSP psu, i chose it cause it was the same dimensions of my old one so i was sure it would fit correctly.

I think I know what the problem is. Maybe it is because you have too many things running at the same time. I looked at your computer screenshots and I noticed you had like 100s of little icons in the system tray. I bet you have too many processes running at the same time too. Take a picture of your taskmanager on the proccesses tab and post it so we can see what you are running, also try disabling all those system trays and playing the game afterwards.

Another possibility is that your drivers need to be reinstalled. Try Driver Cleaner Pro so you can do a clean install.

Also, go to www.tweakguides.com and see the guide for windows and battlefield 2, that guy helped me play Battlefield 2 on my old

P4 1.5 Ghz
512 Mb Ram
Radeon 9550 overclocked

setup.

I think the bottleneck is the 3.2ghz P4. If you have a good enough HS, go ahead and OC that thing a little (or alot). Also try and bring the GPU to at least 470/1100.

Then lets see what the score is. With one 7800GT, you should get about 7500-8000 3dmarks with 05.

Check in the Nvidia Direct3D controls to see if AA/AF are application-controlled. I know someone who has an X1900XT which was performing badly, then made things app-controlled in the ATi Control Center and got a 10-15 FPS boost.

I do disable those things stealth, but i will disable them and post a screen of my processes. Ive cleaned out ATI with driver cleaner.

Is it smart to OC my CPU when its reporting as 55-60C when idle? And what tools can i use to OC it? (if its the BIos im getting the advanced settings combination from Acer as soon as they reply to my ticket)

Vigilante: Already done that, i get 25fps on Sharqi Paninsula with 'High Performance' as the quality setting.

The bottleneck is the P4 plain and simple. You have 2gb of fast ram, the Video card is nice and fast, what else is left? Get a new HS and try OCing the processor if all else fails.

Anyone else agree with me?

OP-

Your scores are fine. Just look at the ORB, you're right in the middle of the pack when it comes to 3DMark scores. If you're lookin at the '06 scores that are in the 5k's, those people have SLI!

Your system is performing about on par with how it should be with that processor.

You have an ATI card, so it's not totally the same, but same concept. Try the Omega drivers or some other third-party driver for you.

For the 7800GT guy, your score is fine for what hardware you have. 3dmark score don't mean a thing. It's all about how the card performs in the game.
