Why are people making such stupid comparisons, is an ultra worth the extra money over the gtx? Hell no, but its faster and thats all that counts to some people.
If the card will sell for $300 and comes clocked higher then a gt, has more sp's and a dual slot heatsink how is it not worth it?
Actually, that statement makes a lot of sense in this case.
Because the V2 8800GTS is just an 8800GT with more sp's and a dual slot cooler and slightly higher stock clocks.
To justify the V2 8800GTS's existence, you'd have to prove the extra sp's and dual slot cooler are making a difference.
And to do that you'd bench it against an 8800GT at the
same clock speeds against the V2 8800GTS.
When you do bench an 8800GT vs a V2 8800GTS at the same clock speeds, it seems those extra sp's arent helping the V2 8800GTS. (or the 8800GTX for that matter)
You may as well bench an OC'ed 8800GT against a stock clocked 8800GT, you'd get the same results.
Or just sell OC'ed 8800GT's at 700/2000/1700 as "new" V3 8800GTS's.
