I'm wating for Yorkfield ES chips to show up for my next rig... already have Conroe and Kentsfield.

These boards are looking amazing for crazy LN2 overclockers.

the aw9d-max was meant to be there top high end motherboard and there bios is lacking basic memory features and no pci-lock. what a disappointment. could of been a great board with a better bios. gone right off abit. all present boards dont seem to have had bios customer satisfaction. why cant they address this fundemental need. the whole point of enthusiast is having features they want. too many lacking. these boards are rushed out. its i think this 680i will perform quite well from all manufacturers regardless of a not so great bios due to 1333 and being able to oc well at lower memory speed. having said all that read some early reviews and 965/975 is on par or just behind on speed. it not worth upgrading. if you already have a conroe board. best putting the money towards a quad core Q6600. everybody just wait till the end of the year before upgrading.

Still probably the no.2 overclocking 975 after the P5WS64 & I don't think that abit have finished with it BIOS-wise ...

@Heidfirst
its too little too late people are jumping on the 680i. the limitations that were recognised on the early conroe boards are now being addressed on the 680i.

& abit will have a 680i too.
Some people (the die-hard ATi fans) will want 975s for the Crossfire aspect plus if the 975s are £140 & the 680is are £190+ (as they currently are in the UK) but realistically offer similar performance for those on E6600 & up ....
I think that the 650is potentially will be the volume sellers if they offer similar performance for the same or less cash as 965.

edit: just saw a pre-order price on a UK site - noticeably cheaper than current eVGA/Asus 680i pricing.

The IN9-32 Max may be the board that puts Abit "back on the block" with respect to the enthusiasts community. The fanless heatsinks and digital pwm should make for one nice board.

Now, the deal killer could be DFI. If DFI releases a "LanParty" version of the 680i chipset we could potentially have a very nice performer on our hands. Time will tel...lol

2 sites in the UK have the IN9 32X-MAX up for pre-order at ~£165 - by comparison the eVGA is £200 & the Asus even more ...
Never thought that I would be saying that £165 for a desktop mobo was a good price :Q

abit went bankrupt --so what do we base the reputation on for the new company?
No, it didn't go bankrupt - the mobo side etc. was acquired by USI & there was a residual rump left but I lost track of what happened to it.
USI are a major manufacturer of industrial solutions with a serious turnover & quite a lot of synergy.

They've kept producing good mobos for years - the sad thing is that many of the people that knocked them hadn't even tried the products that they were knocking ...
Now with USI's backing they have the funding for more R&D & to be quicker to market.

ABIT is making a good effort coming back from their financial stumblings (no, they never went bankrupt, more like a strapping for cash from what I heard) so I wouldnt count them out just yet. I wish them alot of luck. We need more competition of quality products to keep the other manufacturers from getting too greedy on their prices.
