I'd keep arguing, but we have the same view really. It's just a matter of which product is actually worth more to him. The real answer is to grab an Essence STX so when he gets headphones (because you should) they'll be used to a much greater potential.


On a side note, I'm jealous of your setup.

Agreed a good headset, like the Sennheiser HD 598, for example would go a long way with the Essence STX.

On topic, 2 570s? I feel like with that budget, anything less than the 580s will just seem like a letdown. What resolution are you playing at>

the humongous natural soundstage, amazingly defined highs, great build quality, comfortability ( they'll be the most comfortable headphones you ever used) and great price...theyre pretty much the universally accepted best gaming headphones ever.

For you budget you should be able to get a tri sli setup. you dont HAVE to go sandy bridge. x58 is still a very good platform. But with socket 2011 looming on the horizon you would be better off waiting. socket 1155 is NOT an enthusiast socket. It is mainstream-high end mainstream. Hence the integrated graphics. Socket 2011 is for builds in the $2000+ range hex-octo core CPU 24Mb L3 cache 40 PCI-e 3.0 lanes. etc...

like i said AD700s are THE perfect gaming headphones; theres no reason for him to buy anythin above/below it
