new build problem

My friend and I just built a new 2600k system and its been running for a bit but then we shut it down and turned on the tpu and epu switches. now it turns on but wont display anything on the monitor then it shuts down after about 20 seconds.Then we turned them back off then tried again and nothing.we also tried a different gpu but still nothing.cant figure out whats going wrong

updatek I tried it again and its turning off for about 15 seconds then its turns back on and it keeps repeating this process.

mobo asus p8p67 pro

cpu 2600k no oc

gpu nvidia 460 2win

psu corsair 850 ax

ssd 80 gb intel 320

ram 8 gb corsair vengeance

Do you get a bsod when it shut off.probably you dont see it.do you get to post and the beep code.could be anything.you should always update bios before.turning on the( tpu) this is the cause.now you say turning it back off no difference. do a Clear Cmos.

Sounds like something is overheating, and forcing a power down. Have you tried running with the case wide open and a floor fan blowing on it? That kind of scenario can further determine if it is a heat problem.

What kind of case and how many cooling fans? Like Corkyg says this is almost certainly a heat issue.

Sounds like your stuck in a reboot loop

Unplug the system >>> Hold the power button on the case for awhile to help discharge the power supply >>> Put both switches in the off position >>> Reset cmos with the jumper and maybe hold the power button down for a awhile at the same time just in case.

Plug the system back in and try and boot back up and see what happens. It should boot back up now.

sry it was about 8 seconds not 20.the case is an antec p183 ive been running it fully open.I cleared the cmos now it stops turning on and off every 8 or so seconds but im still getting no boot or display.

the cpu is has a h70 on it and there are only the 2 fans on the cpu we haven't installed the others yet. but the case is wide open with both doors off.

dumb question.. you plug the h70 in and get some fans running on the radiator?

yes there are 2 on the radiator

there are no case fans installed yet but the case is open.

I dont think its a overheating issue since after clearing the cmos it is now running without randomly shutting down . so the issue now is it wont boot and there is no display.I think the mobo is faulty.

Usually this is a CPU problem.is your fan running on the cpu.if yes take the cpu out and make sure it is sitting in properly. and dont apply too much thermal paste juste a thin coat.

can it still boot if the cpu seating is bad? it was just fine on the first boot and several restarts it was running vista for about an hour. once we shut it down and tried the tpu and epu the system stopped working.

we have to tear it down tomorrow so I will reseat the cpu and try again just in case it is bad seating.

Ok I removed the h70 and cpu and cleaned them off with alcohol then reseated the cpu and put the stock cooler on and still having the same problem.

Do a clear cmos. and restart evrything and let it run with no change.then with all updates done.you can start doing changes.

yeah after I reseated it I ran it for a bit then shut it down and cleared the c mos and started it again but it didnt change. my friend sent for a rma so we it apart today and are shipping the board back tomorrow.

hopfuly it will work with the new board. Ill post update on here once we get the new one.

Well with the new one do like i told you start with normal.then after you can start doing few things.and give it time to run and set up some recovery. Glad to help you

new eggs rma policy really sucks it cost $48 to return the first one . It was $25 restocking fee and $22 to ship it back. The shipping i can under stand but $25 restocking wtf.

dont know if tirger direct,micro center or ncix does this but i dont think if i will ever buy a motherboard from newegg.

ok new board works fine other then it didnt boot with 2 stick of ddr3 so I removed 1 then it boot.after that I shut down installed the second stick and everything was ok.

Sometimes with Newegg, depending on your order history, or your ability to deal with CS Reps on the phone, they will waive the restocking fee. I know I have had it removed a time or two.
