I am presently running most recent upgrade of W10 64 bit [fm FREE upgrade using previous W7].......it is on my "C" SSD Drive. Also have another HD installed mainly for Programs and Games.
I plan to do a Computer Upgrade shortly and I will be replacing my Motherboard, Memory, and CDROM
Drive. I plan to replace my present "C" Drive BUT not initially.

Please tell me, if u can, Installing everything as mentioned above.....should it start up w/o any major problems.
I just don't want to have to reinstall W10. IF this will get this far.....then I plan to replace my present "C" SSD Drive with a larger SSD Drive and copy a Clone of present "C" onto the NEW "C" Drive and hopefully be back into FULL Healthy puter business.

PLEASE Advise and................THANKS!

We are talking probabilities here. The chances are high that the system will boot up no problemo if the new motherboard cpu and memory are the same brands as you now have. If not, chances are still good that Windows can handle the new items from different brands. Caveat-If you are changing to/from an AMD cpu and board chances are unknown to me but let us know.

To improve your probablities and make less work on startop, install the motherboard drivers BEFORE you swap it. This way when you start up it finds the appropriate chipset drivers instead of picking defaults

I have switched MB with no activation issues.

Had you made a change from a AMD Mobo and CPU to Intel? Hope so......because that is what I forgot to mention in my original question:
I am going to an Intel CPU and thus different type Memory and Mobo too????

Switch from AMD to Intel all bets are off, Drivers are different , but it should POST

IF I purchase one of those W10 Home 64 bit Retail Version on 3.0 USB.....to be sure I will be back up and running.....when I plug the stick in will it just auto update the W10 FREE I presently have running it to the Retail Version and thus NO actual "install" of everything again? Please tell me how that will work if u know? TKS

Since you haven't told us what hardware you are upgrading to it would be impossible for anyone to honestly tell you for sure. Historically, Windows does not respond well to an Intel to AMD swap due to massive differences in chipset and CPU architecture. The only exception I have seen is when doing an OS that is quite a bit newer than the hardware involved.

It is always best practice to have everything backed up and be prepared for failure just in case things don't work out.

The last time I tried this, it worked. By "worked" I mean there were no issues in device manager. But man it ran like garbage. I would have to recommend against it for windows 10.
