I'd rather leave it as it is, but If i don't have to go through alot of fuss I'd try it out--eventually..

I'm not sure whether I really need the Q9450 but I do multi-task alot and watch movies, encode videos, and do some graphics work

I need the wireless because I don't have a jack in my room

Do you think I need the velociraptor HDD?

Graphics card.. I'm not going to play things like Crysis on maximum settings. I just want to be able to play games on adequate settings on my 24" monitor

Whoever wrote that questionnaire desires a pat on the back. Saves us a lot of time playing post-tags back & forth.

I think you will benefit from Raptor since you do mostly mundane work. If you do databases, Raptor WILL def. help.

It's quite simple to gauge which hdd/gpu is right for you. Ask yourself how much time of the total you spend on the computers is for gaming/work. i.e. 90% gaming, a faster gpu is the right choice. Or, 70% work, a faster hdd is the right choice. If you can afford those parts, I'm not gonna stop you.

The one problem with choosing a GPU is, I've never bought one before and it's not really clear how powerful they are. I'm not really going to game all that much. Probably VERY occasionally.

Would the cheapest GPU available be enough?

YOU need to find out how much time you spend on gaming & work like I said above.
