my goal is to build a midrange system. I want to use ati vid card even though dx10 is out and about wrecking shop. just been over on newegg throwing stuff into the shopping cart possibly going to buy within the next 2 days or so this is also my first ever do it yourself build. I'm not a dummy but i am new to the pc build scene if you see something that doesn't match let me know.

Motherboard options and oc'ability is very important to me. (stability and noob friendly with lots of options... is this possible or am i being unrealistic)

processor oc'ability is important to me.

psu stability is very very important as i want ample power for now and later.

memory i have no dang clue about other than its needed... i get confused trying to make sense of it all, but i know i need decent memory for overclocking with a low cas.... (i think)

vid card i can figure out as i'm often the type to stray away from the norm in some ways but i'm sticking with ati they have treated me good for the past 3 yrs with my 9800 pro!
?????????????????????????????????????????????????? (not sure yet)

sound card i think i can figure out.

hard drives shouldn't be that hard... i think i got that covered eh? not up to speed on what raid arrays do what and so forth i know that raid 0 is for speed and .... yeah.

So in closing how does this rough sketch of a setup look. i am looking to spend about 1200-1500 or so give or take i think i'm looking in the right direction... oh and this is my case is it decent?

i think i covered all bases.....

With that processor, I'm thinking you're better off with a P965 board over the 975X to max you o/c. Check the Asus P5B-E or P5B-Dlx, also the Gigabyte DS3 or Abit Quad GT. Those cover a range of prices and features for you to choose.

I don't know a whole ton about OCZ PSUs, but if you want something to last a while, this Corsair is made by Seasonic and will run 2 8800GTX in SLI according to legitreviews.

I don't know what kind of graphics power you need, but check these 2 lines...

thank you for the help folks, i think i'm headed in the right direction going with the nvidia after careful consideration and that xfx warranty looked good as well... won't hurt to try them out.
thanks alot help was appreciated oh and also went with the dq6 gigabyte board 3.3 rev or not... seems to still be a good board.
