New Chenming Case- CompuCase 6919

It appears another company has started buying chassis from Chenming and is selling them under the name of "CompuCase." I just ordered one from Directron (Link). It appears to be a 601/1040 style case, sans the door. The front bezel is also different, and it utilizes a single 120mm fan in the rear as opposed to the dual 80mm fans in the Antec/Chenming cases. I will be recieving the drive sometime next week, I hope. I will post a full review once it arrives. BTW, this appears to be the case used by ViciousPC, which advertises in the rear section of MaximumPC.

I think this is a Chenming knockoff. It's made differentley. Nothing on it is quite the same as a Chenming/Cheiftec case. Note the internal crossbar, the 120mm rear fan, the different stamping on the back of the case, the different style of holes in the drive cages and the 5.25" bays, the different orientation of the drive-rail holders etc, etc. The stamping on the front and rear fan grills is also different and looks more restrictive.

Yep, I do believe you are correct. I am looking at various reviews of it (only one I found so far is in Swedish, however) and while it is very very similar, it is still different. Excellent. I am looking forward to seeing how it compares to Chenming cases. here is a nice little review. (note Little)

I have recieved the case and it appears to be a version of the Antec Performance Plus case. Will post a full review in a week or so.

While that appears to be a nice box, it's definitely not one of the Chenming clan. Might even be better, looking forward to the review.

It may have the same psu as the Antecs, though, there's been some talk that the new dual fan Antecs are made by Heroichi, a member of the Compucase family.

I think it might be a heavily modified and rebranded Chen-ming, as SWScorch suspects. There are quite a few similarities, and it makes more sense to me that they just modded a real Chen-ming as opposed to pain-sakingly imitated it. Looking forward to your review, Scorch.

Are you referring to the TruePower series and if so, do you have further info? Last thing I heard was that they appeared to be made by CWT who made their old supplies.

Ok, I've been really busy the past few weeks, and I have not been working on the review. However, I came to the conclusion that it is NOT a Chenming case. I had an opportunity to compare this case and a Chenming case side by side, and there are very small design differences. For example, the way the supporting rail/PSU bracket is attached to the 5.25" drive cage, or the method of connecting two piees of sheet metal together. Also, the two front 80mm fan openings are positioned differently. In a Chenming case, the two fans are in the same line of symmetry; in this CompuCase, one of them is off-center.

I took lots of photographs and when I do finish my review, I will have lots of side-by-side shots comparing the two. It is a very nice case, though. Not quite an Antec-Killer, however.
