so i ordered my parts from newegg and slapped them together
asus a8n-e motherboard
amd 3800+ x2
ati x1800xt 512
sound blaster audigy zs
enermax 500w modular power
western digital 250gig hd
when i originally put it together i had used the stock heatsink (doh i know now) and everything appeared to be running fine.
Then i had acouple wierd errors and lock ups from what i thought / think is from video driver issues. After installing the Asus Probe i noticed the chip was around 57 degrees and i was told that was alittle high. So i stopped using the computer untill my new heatsink (Scythe Samurai w/ artic silver 5) had arrived.
Now my temps are around 48 - 51 .. my room is hot which is not in my favor.
After testing afew more games i encountered 2 more lockups
1. video on screen froze but sound kept going added with loud screeching from speakers
2. video vent black and then appeared to "power down" and then everything came back and went to gaming again.
So my questions
1. Could i have done some damage to the chip in the fist couple hours ? and can i test this
2. Does this sound like a video / sound card driver issue ? possibly motherboard bios ?
If any more information or specifications are needed i will post accoridingly
Thanks in advance!
