i bought a 600SC awhile back and have SBS 2003 Premium on it and it works awesome! My 600SC has a 2.4G P4 and the 533 bus. it only came w 128 mb ram but I bought a 512 stick to add to it which made a world of difference. The ECC ram is expensive...but while you could run SBS 2003 w/ 256K I recommend a minimum of 512 as a starting point...

Very happy w/ my purchase...would have jumped on this too if I didn't already have my server in place..

Saw the pics of the interior of the Dell 400SC. It looks cluttered with IDE cables. Anyone use a SATA adaptors on standard IDE HDDs with the 400SC yet??? Which ones work???

Any problems??? Or would rounded cables work better. How long are the ATA cables inside the 400SC??

People have called Dell in the past with a similar situation as yours, and Dell was kind enough to send the item to them.

Called a few days ago and did just that. They gave me the free Palm as I asked about it, and they threw in the credit for the $19 shipping without me asking too. Anyway, thanks. Good buy for my first Dell purchase.

How good is dell at catching mistakes?
Last week I ordered the PE400SC when the intant rebate was $150 with $100 mail in rebate financed through Dell and they canceled it without notifying me.
I called them today and asked why the order was canceled and the reply was it was under the $500 minmum for Dell finance, so I asked if I could order a second one at the same price and was told no problem.
The Dell CSR reconfigured the order and I now have 2 PE400Sc's showing and both of them show the PV100T, IDE, TR40, 20/40GB, Internal TBU, with TapeWare Software at the same price as the system was without it and it's a $499.00 option.
Do you think they will catch it?

I could get a 2.8G model for $425 after rebate, plus I get the free Palm (probably
Ebay it for whatever I could get for it). Is that a good deal? I'd rather get the
3.2G, but it is $238 extra.

I would use rounded cables. Very clean look to it. Plus helps air movement around the case. When I buy one, I will be using the main drive for OS, Web and Email, then use a card with 4 160 Gb Raid array. Hope it will all fit in there.

there is no evidence that rounded cables do anything. plus, if it is anything like dimension cases, the cables aren't in the way when the case is closed, they are clipped to the sides

Yes, I aksed them the very same question and was told if you order two then you can use both rebates, Your just limited to one rebate per server, No limit per name/account/household ect...

I tried that for the 2.8ghz model BUT it won't let you have both the new 15% off servers over $599 and the original $100 instant off combined - - it's one or the other.

oh well, hope to get in on this next time around. For some reason I thought these servers had embedded graphics but noticed that they use a cheap PCI graphics card.

Great deal but I'm doing something wrong. Help, please???

Got the $280 400sc P-4 2.26 with the palm and even free shipping. After adding 512mb ram, the linked driver upgrades and XP Pro I'm having network issues and device manager conflicts/yellow question marks in "other devices" with a pci comm controller(only when a pci/modem card is in) and Multimedia audio controller(all the time). Did I screw up the drivers install or load the wrong ones for the P4?

Thanks for any input on smoothing out a bump in this super deal
