Why do you people care about what dx Microsoft released? Every game you purchase comes with its own directX version and you can install it then. There is no need to download from Microsoft's site.

downloading directX is a waste of bandwidth. if you need a newer directX it will come with the game you want to play.
Not true, some demo games don't have any version of DX9.0c included,ie The Witcher Demo would not run in Vista unless Vista had an updated DX9.0C installed ,some dll files were missing otherwise,besides read the small print,
DirectX includes security and performance updates, along with many new features across all technologies, which can be accessed by applications using the DirectX APIs.
Yes its for Vista as well as XP,it updates the DX9 part in Vista.
