willboxer, I hate to break it to you, SgtZulu and AmericasTeam are (IMO) right. This is a hot deals forum. Not a scam alert forum.
The proper place for this post is in the off-topic forum, because as I said out, it is not on topic for this forum, it is off-topic.
Hot Deals means just that and only that, HOT DEALS, not "scam alerts" not "Cold Deals".
I see neither anything hot, or any sort of deal here, not even the culmination of the two words.
I will throw a 5-keg party the mods decide to start closing up scam threads and cold deals, because I truly believe that they have no place in this forum. If they think differently, great. But I think am always welcome to post my opinion about it as I am now, so I will.
When you first register for ebay, paypal, and nearly every other service on the internet, they always send you an email saying something along the lines of "We will never ask you for your password or other information via email, EVER." and "always make sure you are at www.ebay.com when you are editing any information. Additionally, they go on to say that if you have any doubt in your mind about this, you should read the ebay help, which will explain scams like this in detail so that you don't fall for them. I won't go as far as to say that people DESERVE to get scammed, because that's just wrong, but I will say that if they DO get scammed, it's their own fault for not paying attention, even more so because of the fact that their credit card number is involved. Hey, if you don't have a problem giving your credit card number to people you have never met, go ahead and post it and I'm sure we'll show you why that's a bad idea. People who fall for this scam are STUPID for blindly trusting someone will access to their finances.
So that brings me to another point. If someone doesn't bother to take the time reading what ebay has told them, why do you think they would bother reading it here? What I'm trying to say is that all of this information has already been given to them, LONG BEFORE this scam even popped up in your inbox. People everywhere get scams every day in their email. If everyone posted them, we would have to search this forum far and wide to find the deals. As much as I appreciate the thought of members trying to help people out, this is NOT the place to do it. This post IS off-topic and BELONGS in the off-topic forum. Just because everyone doesn't read OT doesn't mean that you should still alert people here. There are often very informative posts in OT, but you don't think that someone should post them here because the people who only visit HD might miss them, do you?
Finally, the biggest point: Adding threads like this bump the threads with legit good deals more towards the bottom, and people might miss them.
Thanks for sharing your wisdom. Me I would read the title and if does not interest me then move on.
That strategy doesn't work. That's like saying "I don't mind the spam in my Inbox, I just click delete and move on".
