If anyone has not tried it yet, It improves the Image quality of Stalker, adds things like bump mapping, better shadows, occlusion, lighting and of course Increased fps at no cost to IQ. It looks just great on my 8800gtx, give it a go!

Lolol, the FPS actually increased after the patch was installed.
I don't have S.T.A.L.K.E.R. myself, but my friends does and I'll tell him about it.

I tried it out for a little bit before I got scared again. Its pretty good, slight increase in textures and I got a little bump in FPS inside (I havent been back outside yet).

The comments on the float32 forums are overwhelmingly positive. Lots of people said great graphical improvements and huge FPS increases. Some posts were more or less like:

"Oh yeah!! With float32, definitely playable with full dynamic lights, fairly high details, etc" - referring to say a Athlon XP, 1 GB RAM, and a 6800GT

I'm not sure I completely believe that, and the guy above me got only slight increases, but there seems to be no downsides at all!

I really would like some better graphics and higher FPS in this game. With full dynamic lighting, I can only play at 1024x768 with mid and some lower details, no AA/AF, at 20-30 fps (guessing). With static lighting, 1680x1050, details mid-high, it runs completely playable, guessing 40-60 fps. So I'd like some better lighting but keep my 1680x1050 resolution and decent level of details.

So I'll try this out later for sure! And yeah... some of the underground lab parts are creepy as hell. I get freaked out with stuff like Resident Evil 4, some parts of this game, Doom 3, and FEAR.

I play at full dynamic lighting, 1920x1200, no AA/AF, medium quality settings and I get 35-45 FPS with this mod. Id say before the mod I was getting about 30fps. A couple areas where it would sometimes get slightly choppy its fine now.

Agreed!

I actually installed this while I was in the labs and I sure was glad I did... the game ran a lot more smooth than it did before that and actually helped to bring me into the atmosphere and freak me out more than I had been in any games for quite some time! I was very satisfied in the fact that this game is able to make me jump in my seat.

I did remove the mod before I installed the patches so I could move past the military warehouses (finally!), but was very satisfied with it before that.

I get 55fps with every setting maxed @ 1920x1200. I was getting in the low 30s with object lighting and distance etc. at medium. The fps jumped to 73 average, so I can crank it now. Amazing.

I have a 7900GTX and I was a little disappointed with the performance I got the first time.
Maybe this deserves my attention.
