Quick update ... after playing more my opinion of the game has shifted to somewhat positive, however compared to Dishonored 1 or 2 it blows serious a$$.

Its too bad they didn't figure out a way to offer quick-saves anywhere and a difficulty-slider in case of fun-killing frustration ... the 3-lives and reset kills the game completely.

Far as performance goes I have every graphic-setting maxed out and its been smooth as silk @ 1440p/165hz ... ray-tracing enabled... DLSS is on. (5800x/3080FE)

Have to say I'm really sorry I didn't wait for the bargain-bin and that's what I suggest everyone do unless/until they fix it... this game isn't worth full price or even close as is.

I finished this game, as a huge fan of Dishonored and Prey. Great atmosphere and funky 60s/70s art style, taking ideas from both Prey and Bioshock. I love how you unravel the story and objectives by finding things, but the actual gameplay is shallow and there is not much content, only 4 levels that you keep revisiting. It's not a stealth game despite having Dishonored-like mechanics on the surface, since there are few dark areas and no non-lethal options, and tons of ammo and health everywhere. I either provoke enemies and pick them off when they all run towards you, or just shift to zoom past everyone to the objectives. Like the other poster said, the lack of saves is a huge negative. The game is quite easy, but this goes against the whole immersive sim idea of experimenting with different approaches. I like how it tries something original with the whole time loop setup, but revisiting the levels gets tedious after a while. I disabled the online Julianna mode, which adds random invasions to a game that already lacks saves. It doesn't feel like a full fledged game worth $60 but was good for the $30 I spent.

The performance is good for me at 4K/120hz with quality DLSS and no RT. HDR has to be enabled manually in Windows. There does seem to be some memory leak or inefficient use of vram, and I've seen it use over 20GB vram. The level design is excellent and the slightly cartoony style fits the story, but the engine itself looks a bit dated.

I really liked this game, it has those vibes of Dishonored series but with more speed and shooting-oriented focus of gameplay. This is what i've been lacking in Dishonored or Prey. Many enemies, many ways to play them how you like, many ways to make traps and interact with enviroment. So, if you wanted Dishonored with guns and more killings - this is a nice game to play. As for the optimisation - i have i7-4790k, 16g RAM and GTX 1070, 1080p monitor and i have stable 60 fps on HIGH settings.

Deathloop is shallow and empty compared especially to Dishonored 2 IMO.

No saves, very little actual in the way of "story" and a total lack of emotional involvement = I doubt I'll ever touch it again vs having played both Dishonored games at least a dozen times each.

The theme-song and the intro video were the best parts of this game... it wasn't a complete "fail" but pretty close.
