Hello all,

I have been checking these forums for quite some months now. Was planning on making my first self build PC, and almost posted my build for advice, but then decided to play the waiting game a little longer (again..)

Anyway my headset just broke down, so I come here for advice on a new pair of headphones (Never used the Mic on my old headset).

Budget - Around €100 (if you know good quality headphones for less, please do tell )
Used for- Gaming, Listening to music, Connecting to my Guitar AMP.

In short I'm looking for good sound quality, comfortable and sturdy headphones(who isn't). And hope some of you can help me with it.

Thanks in Advance!

For that budget, it has to be the Audio-Technica AD700. Some of the best-sounding cans out there for under $100.

If you prefer closed headphones, then consider the A700s.

In your price range i would go with something like this they are about 90 pound so right in your price range. They have a nice sound too them as well.

Two nice looking headphones

Few questions:
- Do I need a sound card for any of those?
- How much sound do the open back headphones let through? Got my gf sleeping +-3 meters away from me.
- I always got tangled up with the wire of my old headset, so is wireless a good option? or does it get more expensive? and can a wireless headphone still be plugged into my guitar amp?

Again thanks for the help!

HD555s are good, but I would take the AD700 over those. Better sounding mids and wider sound stage. The HD555 do have more bass, if that is your preference.

x3 for ad700, good headphones that are very comfortable for long sessions. there are a lot of reviews on them, just google around a bit if you want to find more about their sound...but yes the ad700 and hd555 are often considered at this price, it really depends on which sound you like more. if you like having a more expansive soundstage, more 'airy' sound, more focus on details and the mids/highs, get the ad700. if you want better bass and a more in-your-face sound get the senns. both are good, however, but the ad700 are often recommended for gaming since their soundstage and focus on detail lend themselves to being very good for ambient sounds in games.

one of the things people complain about moreso with closed cans is that they get sweaty ears and such.

if you go open back, just don't listen too loud; it's not like having speakers but it's quite noticeable for people around you. but unless you're listening really loud or your wife is a very light sleeper i think you'd be ok.

no, you won't need a sound card for these headphones; they can run right off of your motherboards integrated audio.

wireless is not a good option, especially at this price. however, i should say that i've never really had a problem with the chord getting tangled on my ad700. the cable is rather thick and of high quality, i think i'd have to try to get it tangled. i can't say with absolute certainty but i am almost positive that you would be giving up a lot in the ways of sound quality if you go wireless at this price.
