New i7-7700 build

Looking to build an i7-7700 this week to replace my wife's gaming rig. I realized the coffee cake is out next month, but we're looking to buy now.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. Gaming

2. What YOUR budget is. 1100-1300 (already have video card)

3. What country USA

4. IF you're buying parts OUTSIDE the US, please post a link to the vendor you'll be buying from. N/A

5. IF YOU have a brand preference. Intel for CPU, no preference on anything else.

6. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are. Already have a EGA GTX-1080 FTW

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds. Default speeds

8. What resolution, not monitor size, will you be using? 3440 x 1440

9. WHEN do you plan to build it? A day or two

10. Do you need to purchase any software to go with the system, such as Windows or Blu Ray playback software? No

Yea, unfortunately timing will not work out. Our anniversary is this week, and I'm leaving next month for a lengthy business trip.

That's understandable and that is still a good build to do.

For stock speed, you could save ~$75 by getting the plain 65-watt 7700 and a nice $50 air cooler like a Noctua, and another $50-75 with a cheaper motherboard (giving up the overclocking features you don't need). If you buy from Amazon today, you could save another $75 by getting the 2.5" 850 EVO 500 GB for $145 instead of the 960 nvme.

The CPU and SSD will be slower on benchmarks, but the GPU is what really matters for 1440p.
