Troubleshooting starter
1. Overview of the problem
Brand New Build, I'm getting No video at all, and I'm hearing no post.
2. Full description of the problem and symptoms
Brand new i7 system. I put everything together, double checked wires and was feeling good about the build so far. Plugged up power usb cat5 etc to the back. Ready to boot up. Upon booting up I got no video and I had errors on my video card. So I tried another pci-e slot same problem. I also got a hint of a weird smell, it went away shortly. I then got my old 7800gt out and tested it in the slot. It also gave me new video and I tested it in another port same thing.
I'm still hearing no post at all. My boot leds do come on. I can't shut down with the case or mobo power switch. I have to use the power switch on the psu.
3. Did it work normally at one time, or has the problem always existed?
Brand New system so no. But the video card has given me problems before but worked in another friends system.
4. Is the problem consistent and repeatable, or entirely random, or semi-random?
Every time I boot up I doesn't post any video.
5. I already tried these steps:
Tried the other graphics card, no video at all. And I tried multiple slots.
6. My software:
Doesn't matter.

I'm thinking its a doa motherboard. With no video and I'm not hearing a post. Just wondering if you guys have any ideas.
