New Intel Build

Wow I don't know when I'll get my board. The RMA I did on the 15th won't get to newegg until the 23rd and they told me the RMA takes 5 days to process.

I am probably looking at February 12th before I can work on my build again :/ That sucks.

I know everything changes between now and October but what could be done for $600 with that case? The only big requirement is it has Win 7 and runs better then her optiplex 755.

My mom absolutely loves it and wants me to build a computer when I pay off my card.

I know it's sad, haven't got this one mastered and planning another one.

We can only give extremely general advice for a build that is 9 months away at the earliest.. Assuming your mom is not a gamer, it'll probably have a Haswell or Broadwell i3 with an IGP, 8GB of RAM, and an SSD. That's pretty much as specific as I can get right now.

If it's that's far away, you could always start accumulating case, power supply, then the drives like hard drive or SSD, optical drive.

Then you could get mobo/CPU/RAM/video card.

I'd be tempted to lay off the credit cards though. I'm still paying off my last card. I'm saying last as in, I had stopped paying all my other cards and this last one was not renewed. I still intend to pay it though.

I'm paying off $1200 of it in July so that's when I build.

I am able to pay it off interest free, that's all that matters. It's maxed right now so I can't buy anything. I have $250 on it for my graphics card purchase.

The budget will stay $600 and the case is non negotiable unless there is better colored ones that are small.

I don't know what is going to change in 6 months so I am trying to get a general idea of what I can get her.

Yes, it is compatible. It doesn't mean that those will be good picks in six months though.

My card got here yesterday (PNY GTX 760 2GB)...
