New machine will not Post.

Hello, just picked up a host of new components today for a new media center

I5 6600K
Gigabyte GA-H170N Motherboard
2x8GB Crucial DDR4 2133 RAM
Gigabyte GTX 960 4GB Videocard
HSGT 4TB storage HDD
Sandisk 250GB SSD (OS drive)
Antec VSK 4000E case (cheapy but relatively minimalist).

so I've put it all together, and it just will not post. I power it on, and the blinky light comes on, and the fans appear to spin (though not at full speed), but it just never beeps to signal POST and then neither the power button nor reset button will function, the only way to turn off the machine is to kill the power.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: just noticed that the power supply fan does not appear to work...it kinda rocks back and forth very slightly as if it's stuck on something, but doesn't spin. It's an Antec 550W power supply, is it possible the power supply is just borked?

Any smells inside the power supply? If the power supply does react to the power switch, but not actually turning on, a bad unit would not be a bad first guess.

This is why you should always test before mounting in the case. You may have a short (possibly where the board mounts) or something isn't connected properly. You may have to pull the board & test it on a box or something., but at the very least strip it down to bare essentials. Make sure all the power connections are correct. 24 pin main power & 8 pin cpu power, remove the video card & test with onboard video, to see if it posts..

No smells in the power supply, I've tried stripping all components out and trying it basically bare, short of pulling the motherboard out of the case, still having the same issue.

The fans appear to spin weakly, the power supply fan sometimes spins, sometimes does not.

You're at the point where you need to pull the board and test it. May need to return it anyway..

Did just that, board was bad, returned it and new board works fine.
