I'm very interested in ME2, but they need to fix the inventory system and resolve the issues with the dialog system vs ME1.

hell to the naw. i mean yeah, ashley looks better because of hair, but subject zero is just 100% badass in female form.

plus, she can screw you over as she once did me (and no, not due to the romance). i never ever put her in my party after that. she can bite my shiny metal ass.

And what did Ashley do to you? Now I'm intrigued. You mean with Wrex? Or what?

Huh? What don't you like about it? I think the video was pretty damn cool, and I think ME2 is the most interesting upcoming title at the moment. ME was an amazing game and it was published by EA too.

I feel about ME2 in a similar way to how I feel about Dragon Age. My theory is that EA is responsible for the advertisements for both games that seem to highlight juvenile stuff like emphasizing gore and nudity. I guess I wasn't expecting it for bioware games.

I don't really care if it's featured in the game, I kind of like the fight club approach where you "don't talk about it" but when you encounter it in the game and it's tastefully done, then it's icing on the cake overall.

With their recent video trailers for the two games I feel like they want me to go buy a 24 pack of Mountain Dew, kind of like they're going for the age group that can just barely buy rated M games legally.

Seems like an interesting character, she would actually go well with the Shepard I made (who happens to be focused on Biotics as well). As a side note, I noticed that the Mass Effect 2's web-site has a background ambiance track from Half-Life, I thought it was strange, but it's definitely that, and that same track was also used in some maps for Natural Selection.

i like the character fine, but running around half-naked doesn't really seem to be in line with the fairly logical 'realistic' future presented in mass effect. this isn't final fantasy, no androgyny or giant swords pls.

My biggest gripe was the combat system. I didn't like it.

I'm sure it goes beyond simple visual design purposes.

That character has been subject (no pun intended) to multiple Biotics-related experiments (and perhaps related to other things that will be revealed in the game), and it turned her mind upside down, not to mention that she has been part of gangs and was once a cult member of some sort, she's been through a lot, and being generally aggressive could be a way for her to cope with everything occurring around her. The writers of Mass Effect (parts altered for the game, when compared to the book) are certainly going to give us details and explain exactly why she's like that. I think that whether or not having barely any apparel on her during combat makes sense it will still be explained and it will be part of and in relation to the Mass Effect's existing universe, prior to the character's creation, meaning that already in the original Mass Effect's universe you have all the necessary elements to be able to create such "beyond normality" and even seemingly "unfitting" characters, for all we know it may just be her "personal preference" to get out of cover almost naked and vulnerable to a single shot, maybe even the rest of the cast will let her know how dangerous it is, and I can already imagine her replies about how impossible it is for her to even care about what they think of her preferences and that they can go elsewhere if they ain't happy with her, she's a tough character in all sense of the word and I'm sure it will create tension amongst Shepard's team, but that will be part of the story.

Time will tell, I guess. I will be the first to be surprised if BioWare simply decided to create that type of character for the sheer purpose of creating a "bad ass" and "rebels-friendly" stereotype for younger audiences without giving any sense-full and logical story-related and fitting explanations as to why she is the way she is. If that's the case, however, I will be disappointed, but fortunately there will be a number of other party members to worry about and we'll just be able to leave Subject Zero in the shadows whenever possible. I liked all of the original Mass Effect's characters, they all added a different vision to the events of the game, its general universe and the "behind the scenes" stuff that doesn't occur in the game itself but is still part of the scheme of things. I have hope that it will be the same with Mass Effect 2. There's also the potential "issue" of character attachment to consider by BioWare, if they know a little about human psychology, they know what to do, creating new characters for a new Mass Effect audience that never touched the original won't be a problem, but imposing "drastic" changes to the original game's veterans who've been appreciating the original cast for nearly two years, now that's a different story. Either way, I can't wait to play it.

Yeah, I completely stayed away from this first title because the major criticism was it's wonkiness. If the controls suck, and the inventory system is off, and then the dialogue had some problems - that translates to alot of game time. I don't want to spend 2 hrs just trying to figure stuff out, and then when I do, not have it work the way it was intended. But it sure looks purdy.

ME was amazing, and one of its strongest components was the depth of the character storylines. Looks like they're going to continue in that vein.

Anyone who has avoided ME because of something they read is so missing out it's not even funny. It's one of the least complicated RPGs to get involved in. The mechanics are simple, unlike say, Witcher.

What's so bad about the controls? Right stick to look around, left one to move. Left trigger to zoom, right to shoot. Right bumper for forces (quick select one, with a RB tap to immediately use it, keep RB pressed for the whole menu), left bumper for weapons select. Both bumpers also pause the game when pressed.

Inventory? Everything is sorted in categories depending on the slot type (pistols ,shotguns, rifles, snipers, tools, amps, armor, grenades). Granted, the upgrades are a bit harder to move around but it's not like you change that every minute...

The Mako is a bit strange to drive (because you're driving always where you're looking and not where the tank is facing - it always tries to turn the way you're looking at). You can turn by looking or by the left stick and sometimes the tank gets confused (especially when you're "strafing"). Don't really understand what's all the complaining...

The inventory in mass effect was pure garbage. Let me be blunt here, when FF4 for the friggin Super NES has proper stacking and at least some sorting options, and your game doesn't over a decade later, you have screwed something up badly.

Mass Effect Desperately needing stacking at the very least, and should've had quite a few filtering options. Upgrades especially should've been at the very least stacked by quantity and substacked under type.

Instead we got an inventory which doesn't even make efficient use of screen space, and which lacks the kind of basic options including in Windows friggin' explorer.

And Bioware has no excuse - it's not like they're new to this. They just didn't care.

As for the vid...please dear god, don't make the only choices for a romantic interest for a male that and some alien. Cripes, it could be a female Krogan and still be a large step up from that.

The story and voice acting made up for it to me though. Haven't had a good story in a game in a while.

Obviously all the above can be summed up as items not stacking. And it's painful with upgrades only - you get Spectre gear fast and you really don't care about weapons after that. Either OmniGel or sell at the Med Clinic. It could be easily improved with item stacking - true. But t's nowhere near gamebreaking to make it even consider one not playing the game.

Actually, I kinda agree with that

huh.. weird character, but I like it. it's got that cyberpunk/postmodern vibe. doubt she'd fit in with my goody-two-shoes playing style though.

I usually play goodie 2 shoes, But Mass effect was one of the rare titles where playing through as a bad ass renegade was FAR more enjoyable.

They managed to pull off a kinda "I will blow your motherfukin head off for the sake of humanity" type attitude that I loved. He wasn't Evil, just didnt put up with bullshit.

*edit, unless murdering all those poor Monkeys on that one side mission was evil? Nah.. those were some evil little space monkeys!*

My imagination just went wild envisioning a female Krogan sex scene. Lots of grunting and drooling probably. Yep...you were all thinking the same thing. Muahahahaha

I noticed that she only had a couple weapons on her at a time. I'm doing another playthrough of ME right now and I'd like it if you could disable certain weapon slots on characters who aren't trained to use them.

Of course, that's a really minor concern. There are tons of other, more important changes I'd like to see first. Mostly a better inventory system, more diverse voice acting ("I WILL DESTROY YOU! I WILL DESTROY YOU! YOU MUST DIE! I WILL DESTROY YOU! YOU MUST DIE! ENEMIES ARE EVERYWHERE! I WILL DESTROY YOU!"), and more varied environments as well (I wouldn't mind seeing some, you know, foliage on more than one or two planets).
