I'm thinking of building a new computer and would like some input from you guys. Budget is $800 tops but less is better. I do NOT plan to OC.

I havent built one in about 5 years and only thing ive had to upgrade was my GPU since my 8800GTX finally died one day. Currently i have a HD6850 1GB GPU ill reuse. But everything else would be new.

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115074

MB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131711

SSD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148442

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311

DVD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106289

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256065

CASE: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129179

A few questions:
I'd like a modular PSU. Is that one any good?

I like the look of this case but it seems it may be rather large. I dont plan to ever use 2 GPUs nor add a ton of HD's. Any other smaller mATX cases that are good?

I currently have an OEM version of Windows 7. Can i reuse that on a new build?

Thanks for an input in advance

The Silverstone PSUs are decent. I personally wouldn't want to pay more just for cables that can disconnect. Cable ties are much cheaper.

What are you looking for in a case? The one you linked (Antec P280) is on the quiet side. You can go with an Antec Mini P180 or a Fractal Design Define Mini. Those are similar in looks to the P280 and are also reasonably quiet. Otherwise there are a lot of decent mATX cases out there, like the other Fractal Design cases, In Win Dragon Slayer and BR655, a few Cooler Master cases, a few Silverstone cases, even a decent Rosewill mATX case for gaming rigs. All depends on what you are looking for in a case.

Since you are not overclocking, there may be better motherboard choices out there. For the money you can get an ASRock or Gigabyte Z68 chipset motherboard. Alternately go for a cheaper H67 chipset board from any number of brands that don't start with Asu*.

The normal licensing for OEM Windows is the computer it was sold with.

Nice setup. If you want a modular PS, that one will do fine but make sure case is cooled well, jam some 120mm fans in there.
It doesn't make much sense to pair a K chip with a H67 mobo so you are good with the 2400.
You can only use OEM Win7 on one motherboard.

If you have a Micro Center nearby it would be stupid not to get a 2500K chip for 179$ ~ 196$ after tax. Of course, IF you have one nearby.

I have a few comments:
- Mobo: You can do better price-wise. The ASRock H67M gets you largely the same feature set for $80.
- RAM: Again, you can do better with this $35 DDR3 1600 8GB kit from Crucial.
- PSU: It's fine, but $80 is a hefty sum to be paying for a 500W PSU. You can do the same for $55 AR with an XFX if you don't mind dropping the modularity.
- Case: That is one mighty big and heavy case to be putting a uATX rig into. Check out the alternatives that Zap recommended.

CPU - MicroCenter has 2500K for 180$ - brick & mortar only.
MOBO - You can get a Z68 chipset mobo from ASRock for 85$.
SSD - That's good, MicroCenter has it for 170$.
RAM - MicroCenter has 8GB Kingston HyperX Blu 1600 MHz DDR3 for only 35$. There isn't any noticeable difference.
DVD - Good for 18$, it's just OEM packaged hardware these days anyway.
PSU - You can do better for your money here - for example: Modular PC Power and Cooling Silencer MK III 600W for 60$ after rebate.
CASE - I take it that you don't want LEDs in your case? I'd still go for a mid tower case though, something like the Fractal R3 Titanium Grey for 110$ (also w/USB3).

Total: 658$ without shipping & handling

Opps sorry i actually meant to put that in the OP. I DO have a Microcenter nearby that has both the CPU and MB there. I planned to go there for those 2 pieces at least.

If you want good stuff + save money and can wait until the deal comes around again, go for one of those combo deals at Micro Center. They have had deals such as $50 off a 2500K with motherboard. I got a combo for around $260 after rebate, and that was for a 2500K with a Gigabyte Z68 chipset motherboad that supported SLI.

I tried that on a recent build and it didn't work. Had to go back and buy a new OEM version. The OEM versions are licensed only for the machine on which it was installed originally.

I just got http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703036 for a build I'm doing this weekend. Silverstones are supposed to be solid as well though, but it's 500w less for the same price and no rebate.

Also, not sure about the newer gen ssd's but there's so many available now. I've seen alot of them for ~$100-125 that are probably the older 250MBps.

I got the core components for my build last weekend at microcenter :

Case : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146071 $95 w\ $20 MIR
CPU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103961 $199.99
MOBO : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157262 $0.01 (cpu bundle)
Ram : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820104262 $34.99

And then I got a GTS 250 for $49.99 on ebay ( new ) and PSU : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703036 $79.99 w\ $20 MIR

Corsair H60 cooler $49.99

and then I'm using a 500GB WD I got for $20 on newegg before the HDD shortage ( nib ) so.. I'm right around $550 for a build that should be pretty good. Hopefully good enough for farmville : D as it's for an older relative.
