Backlight bleed is almost unavoidable unless you go OLED or a FALD.
Even VA's have some blacklight bleed. The nano IPS series from LG has a Semi FALD with 32 zones, so you may get less of a black light bleed from those.

But looking for a monitor with near 0 back light bleed is wishing for a bit too much.
i am finally buying 4k now . Should i buy 27 or 31 inches if i am away 20 inches away from screen?
i am lookng for samsung viewfinity s8

for 4k i would personally go 31-43inch.
I am coming from a 32 inch 4k and stepped up to a 48inch, and the characters are so much easier to read on the 48 at about 23inches away.
You need to remember @ 4k the pixel density so great, text gets really small, and you will need scaling to read things without squinting.

I am personally not a fan of scaling, as it does not play nice with multi monitors at different resolutions, and you get flickers as you move a window from one screen to the next.

If you run a single monitor setup, then i guess scaling wont be an issue, but regardless, i am not a fan of scaling unless i absolutely require it.
Id rather (Ctrl +) my chrome window and make the images and text larger then use windows scaling.

I am very sensitive to pixelated text . Which one to buy? I will work on adobe photoshop illustrator premier pro after effects

Already bought samsung 32 inch 4k viewfinity s8 with dci and srgb 100% and will unbox on 31st december

make sure you test it for dead pixels...
Samsung has the worst quality check, i think they have the highest return ratio for bad pixels.
Make sure you test the monitor for dead and stuck pixels.

You can use that to see if you have any stuck pixels.

Its unfortunate you live in India... the LG 27PG850 was on sale for cyber monday for like 400 dollars, which i feel is probably a better monitor as its nano-ips, but suffers from backlight bleed because its IPS.

My 2017 5K 27" iMac (218 ppi) has no significant backlight bleed. No dimming zones. Then again, it also has huge bezels though, if that makes a difference. To my surprise, the Huawei MateView 28.2" (164 ppi) I just bought last week also has minimal backlight bleed. Again, no dimming zones. Bezels are 6 mm. I've actually set my desktop wallpaper on this monitor as an image which is mostly just black. YMMV.

The problem with the Mateview though is that it has significant brightness drop-off at the edges. I haven't measured it, but one guy out there in internet land did and he stated it was roughly 20% dimmer near one of the edges. I can notice it when reading a white website near the edge of the screen. It's also an odd resolution, at 3840x2560 (3:2 aspect ratio). I don't think they sell they Huawei in the US either, but I suspect they do in India.

I bought and returned a few Asus ProArts in the last couple of weeks. One was a 32" PA328CGV (92 ppi). It had some corner backlight bleed but not outrageously so. However, the IPS glow was more noticeable than the Mateview, and I couldn't get used to the pixelated text. The colours looked great though. The other one was the 32" PA329CV (138 ppi), but it had significant backlight bleed one side that bothered me even just watching a moderately dark scene in a TV show. I just couldn't unsee it. And it had the more noticeable IPS glow that the PA328CGV had as well. It did have great colours though, again like the PA328CGV. As for text, it was just OK at 138 ppi.

At 164 ppi on the MateView with macOS Ventura, text is considerably nicer than 138 ppi, but it's still not perfect. The improvement on the 218 ppi iMac is still pretty noticeable, but that's partially because of the way macOS handles text. No subpixel anti-aliasing, because they just assume everyone should buy Retina displays. If you don't, then it sucks to be you I guess.

In addition to my 5K iMac, I'm keeping the MateView, because of its lack of backlight bleed. I can tolerate the brightness drop-off at the edges, and the text is good enough. This is for business productivity. No gaming at all. Monitor is limited to 60 Hz and no Freesync.

Yeah I saw that earlier in the thread. I was just responding to @aigomorla’s comment that backlight bleed is almost unavoidable for IPS.

BTW, the 28.2” MateView costs more than the 27” Samsung S8, but less than the 32”.
this samsung of mine has no ips glow or bleed at all i just once tried it and watched netflix 4k dolby atmos and was extremely worth it. i will will install my monitor on 31st after getting drunk cheers

Great to hear. However, it looks like for the time being the Samsung S8 isn’t a viable option for Mac users like me. People at DPreview complain of sleep issues with Macs, as in the monitor won’t always wake up with the computer after sleep. This is a common issue with Apple Silicon Macs and various monitors although in 2022 many newer USB-C models have fixed this with updated firmwares.

Not sure. Which browser? Did you try using the Prime Video app?

Run windows clear type:

I am sure it is a great monitor. However, Asus has a bunch of proart models, so I have no way of knowing which you purchased .
i just installed my samsung 32 inch monitor but even at 60hz it feels windows is lagging like it is on 30hz. Is it normal?
