New Nightwish?

Now that there are 3 (that Im aware of) released songs with the new vocalist: what your thoughts? They certainly changed and Im sure they are going to lose some fans but on the other hand I think that they will gain new ones too.

For your convenience Ill link the three new songs:

Nightwish - Amaranth Faster and differs the most off the old Nightwish. I like it a lot, especially the chorus (sp?). FYI, the theme for music video comes from a finnish painting: "The Wounded Angel".

Nightwish - Eva Slower song. Good but nothing special. Reminds me off the old Nightwish. Tarja did this type off songs better.

Nightwish - While your lips are still red Has a finnish movie ever recieved such great publicity? Quite different as well as theres no woman singing.

Not really. The vocals from Tarja were what got me into it.

I don't like this new stuff, have only heard what you linked to though, but it isn't nearly as enjoyable as the stuff in the past. The singer's voice is one, and then the music just seems to lack the action that the previous ones had. It all seems quite a bit slower, and not in a good way, I love mellow music, but this is just boring to me.

I liked every single song they have made in the past. I haven't been able to get into the new album.

I don't like the new vocalist too much. I think they would have been better off just letting Marco do all the vocals.

Tarja's vocals were the only good part of the band. That annoying skinny guy is annoying as hell (he sings like a D&D nerd would), and so is the generic heavy metal music. This new Swedish chick sounds like a country singer so far.

im a big nightwish fan, and i listened to the new stuff that was out, and well yes the new singer isnt Tarja , she isnt horrible, the thing that made tarja so good was that she was a trained opera singer and her style just fit their music so well, the new singer doesnt have the same feel IMO but i wont judge untill the full album is out and i can give it some play time.

I'm still on the fence.

The songs that have been released are pretty damn badass. I don't think its fair to compare Anette to Tarja.. I mean... It's art. Of course they're going to sound different.

I like what I hear, although if I was going to be critical I would say that Anette's voice isn't as unique as Tarja's.. for better or for worse, I don't know.

The problem is that it sounds as if they recorded all the instrumentals before this ever happened, then spliced her in there. Their music doesn't flow or integrate like it did with Tarja.

QFT. I still love it, but it's definitely not as great as they used to be.

Tarja's voice is more powerful. I really liked their old music, but this was still decent.

The CD is out now, bought it last night.

It's very different, I wasn't sure if I liked it with my first listen, by the second one I was in love. "The Poet and the Pendelum" is awesome.

New Nightwish sucks, older Nightwish is catchy in a very mediocre and generic way as far as metal goes...

i like both the old stuff and the new stuff. i am not looking at this as the same band. the sound is a bit different and i dont mind it all that much. the new singer sounds a bit countryish which surprisingly i think works with the songs they have now. especially amaranth. i think that is my favorite off of the album. i still like there sound in general. i like the mixture of the orchestra with the metal. it reminds me of trans siberian orchestra. i am still looking forward to that new album whenever they get around to releasing it.
