hi guys i wanna buy a new pc and i wanna know what is the best choice
wait for socket AM2 or buy an intel cedarmill
i wanna use it for gaming
i just don't wanna invest in s939 cuz it is in the end of its life

ps: i will buy a monocore first and upgrade to dual when it will be cheaper

Are you going SLI/Crossfire?
The higher the resolution the more gpu bound unless you are crossfire/Sli'ing it then the cpu(s) could constrain your performance increase.

Single core chips are on the way out as well so I would start off the bat with dualcore and overclock. The AMD M2 chips with DDR 2 is probably 3 to 4 months away. Are you willing to wait that long? Intel looks to draw even later in the year as far as total performance (temps, power draw, performance) so you would have a pleuthora of choices.

My 30" requires basically 2 nvidia 7800 512 gtx's to run cs source at 100+ fps.. Trust me , the bigger it gets the worse it is. I'm just an idiot.

there is nothing wrong with buying s939 now... first of all, its going to be a few months before AM2 comes out. when AM2 does come out, CPUs will be mega-expensive for it. and boards will SUCK. and you need DDR2.

s939 will still be on top for another 5-6mos, i think. and its not like there is anything 'wrong' with it.

id get a dfi nf4 sli-dr and an opteron 165, supercheap and beats an FX-60 (stock) pretty easy

fisrtly :i won't OC or use 2 vga cards
secondly: i'll keep my pc for 2 years
i wish i can play games at 1280x1024 high or medium details as long as i can

A8R MVN is good but if you're not overclocking then you can pick pretty much anyone you like
2gb RAM (value)
450W PSU (Antec or fortron are good budget ones)
HD= Depends, 150 Raptor if speed is your thing, WD4000KD for lots of space and speed, Hitachi 7k250 for less space and alright speed.

i thought about evga 7800gt
1gig low latency(is the 2gigs necessary)
P4 641 2mb cache
120gigs samsung (for silence)
audigy live!5.1(i need it just for gaming)
fortron green power 400W (how much power dual cores needs cuz i think i'll get one when the price will drop)

here is the config
if i go with amd s939 3700+ san diego, does my config keep playing games longer than the 641 or 651 processors??

Check results on CPU charts, specifically the gaming benchmarks.

Games are starting to use more than 1gb of RAM now, 2 helps.

Low latency doesn't make much difference with A64s.

Fortron 400W will do nicely.
