ok so i have got my new printer today canon E460 but i dont know how to connect it to my pc through wireless connection please help me thanks alot
i do have a wifi router but dont know how to Set up APPerhaps you should've obtained a basic understanding of networking principles prior to buying the wireless printer. Your pc is not a WAP. Get a usb printer cable and connect the printer to your pc so you can print or go buy a wireless router/AP and set it up correctly.
hi thnx i know my ssid and pass for wifi but i dont know how to make connection with the printer wifi is on on both pc and printer but what next? All you need is the Name of your WiFi Connection (known as a SSID) and your WiFi WPA or WEP Password .. when you go through the setup on the printer it will either ask for the Wifi SSID or show a list of available WiFi Connections. After you select the correct one, it will then prompt you to enter the correct encryption (wpa or wep key) .. This is not very hard to do.
wait there is no display screen on my printer[ Wireless Connection ]
Connect to your network environment over a wireless connection.
An "Ad-hoc connection," which establishes a direct connection to the computer over a wireless connection without using an access point, is not supported.
Be sure to prepare an access point.
Perform the setup manually
- Check the Information for Wireless Connection
The following information is required to connect to your access point or router.
Check your access point or router for the following information, then write it down.
NOTE
For details on how to check the following information, refer to the manual of your access point or router, or contact its manufacturer.
- Access Point Name/Network Name:
* Also referred to as SSID.
An identifier to identify the specific access point.
- Network Key:
* Also referred to as encryption key, WEP key or WPA/WPA2 passphrase, Pre-Shared key.
A password required to set to prevent unauthorized access to communication.
1. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (A) to select Settings, then press the OK button.
Often, if there is no display on the printer, and no way to type in a password, you need a USB cable from the printer to the PC, even to setup wireless printing.
The advantage is, once it is on the network, other pc and devices on wifi can then print. But you still need that usb printer cable to set it up for the first time.
