ok so i have got my new printer today canon E460 but i dont know how to connect it to my pc through wireless connection please help me thanks alot

The user guide that comes with the printer should tell you how.

In general terms, you turn on the printer and if using Windows, go to Control Panel, and select Printers and Devices. Then you use the ADD Printer function, and that usually starts a routine that will "see" your printer and ask for drivers. Those are usually on a disc that comes with the printer.

Perhaps you should've obtained a basic understanding of networking principles prior to buying the wireless printer. Your pc is not a WAP. Get a usb printer cable and connect the printer to your pc so you can print or go buy a wireless router/AP and set it up correctly.

i do have a wifi router but dont know how to Set up AP

Eh, you enter in the password to the network on the printer, and then it should connect to the network.
Just like every other device that wants to connect via a wireless connection.

All you need is the Name of your WiFi Connection (known as a SSID) and your WiFi WPA or WEP Password .. when you go through the setup on the printer it will either ask for the Wifi SSID or show a list of available WiFi Connections. After you select the correct one, it will then prompt you to enter the correct encryption (wpa or wep key) .. This is not very hard to do.

Perform the setup manually

• Check the Information for Wireless Connection

The following information is required to connect to your access point or router.
Check your access point or router for the following information, then write it down.

NOTE

- Access Point Name/Network Name:
* Also referred to as SSID.
An identifier to identify the specific access point.
- Network Key:

1. Use the Easy-Scroll Wheel (A) to select Settings, then press the OK button.

3. Select Yes, then press the OK button.
When wireless connection is enabled, the Wi-Fi lamp (B) lights blue.

4. Select Easy settings, then press the OK button.

5. Select the access point name you wrote down , then press the OK button.

If you are living in an apartment, nearby access points in use may be detected.

6. When one of the following screens is displayed, enter the network key you wrote down, then press the OK button.
If the following screen is not displayed, go to step 8.

Enter upper and lower case letters of the alphabet correctly.

If Failed to connect to the access point. appears, press the OK button, make sure that the network key is correct, then enter it again. If a connection still cannot be established, refer to the printed manual: Network Setup Troubleshooting.

Confirm Connection Status

1. Press the HOME button (A), select Settings using the Easy-Scroll Wheel (B), then press the OK button.

IMPORTANT
Confirm connection status after installing the machine in the target location.

2. Select Device settings, then press the OK button.

3. Select LAN settings, then press the OK button.

4. Select Confirm LAN settings, then press the OK button.

5. Select Wireless LAN setting list or Wired LAN setting list, then press the OK button.
Make sure that Connection is set to Active, then press the HOME button.
It may take a while before the connection is complete. In this case, press the Back button (C) and wait for about a minute, then display the Wireless LAN setting list screen or Wired LAN setting list screen again.

NOTE
If the communication status does not improve, make sure of the following.

• The machine and network device are turned on.
• There is no obstacle between the machine and access point, and wireless communication is possible.
• There is no microwave, refrigerator or any other object that may cause radio interference nearby.

Install the Software

To use the machine by connecting it to a computer, software including the drivers needs to be copied (installed) to the computer's hard disk. The installation process takes about 20 minutes. (The installation time varies depending on the computer environment or the number of applications to be installed.)The screens below are based on Windows Vista operating system Ultimate Edition (hereafter referred to as "Windows Vista").

IMPORTANT

• Quit all running applications before installation.
• Log on as the administrator (or a member of the Administrators group).
• Do not switch users during the installation process.
• Internet connection may be required during the installation. Connection fees apply.
• It may be necessary to restart your computer during the installation process. Follow the on-screen instructions and do not remove the Setup CD-ROM during restarting. The installation resumes once your computer has restarted.
• If the firewall function of your security software is turned on, a warning message may appear that Canon software is attempting to access the network. If such a warning message appears, set the security software to always allow access.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 or later, you can use the Web print software Easy-WebPrint EX. An internet connection is required for installation. (It is also possible to install this software later.)

1. Turn on the computer, then insert the Setup CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.

Then the model of the printer is incorrect. Look at the Box it came in or the actual User Manual it came with. Or there should be some Identification on the Unit Itself to tell us exactly which Model Canon Printer you have.

Corky's link seems to be correct for your unit. I was looking at Canon Pixma (probably USA version)

Often, if there is no display on the printer, and no way to type in a password, you need a USB cable from the printer to the PC, even to setup wireless printing.

The advantage is, once it is on the network, other pc and devices on wifi can then print. But you still need that usb printer cable to set it up for the first time.

I agree. Using a USB cable for the initial install should make things much easier for you.
