I probably shouldn't mention this but just in case you aren't aware...RAID 0 results in zero performance increase in all but a few encoding cases(aka games will not be faster/load faster)

i would rather you did mention it and save me a lot of hassle. i have been reading a lot about how great raid is and that was why i was going to do it. so why dose everyone rave about it if its not any better:roll:

Word of mouth is what keeps RAID 0 going in the consumer environment. Someone pays a lot of money to do something you better believe they will convince themselves that there was a difference in performance. Even if none exists in reality. You would be better served by buying a raptor than going RAID 0 if you really want a boost in HD performance. Even then, its not that significant IMO.

There's also this problem of increased risk of failure. In a RAID 0 setup, all your data is spread over 2 HDD's. If either one fails, you have lost all your data. And of course the probability of one failure in two drives is twice as high as the prob. of one failure in one drive. If you are very faithful in doing frequent good backups you can guard against this, but that would make you a saint among all us sinners!

Don't forget about RAID'd drives spontaneously burst into flames.
Or that they'll suck the breath out of a baby if left alone with them.
RAID'd drives were seen on the grassy knoll in Dallas 11/22/1963.
