I will not be buying this system until I have the money which will be in a month or two. I know that new parts will be available then, but I want to get a basic idea of what I will be getting and what I need to spend.

Everything is included in that wish list except for case. I made a topic about a case here.
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.aspx?catid=37&threadid=1576120

So if you have any case suggestions that would be appreciated. I want this system to be as cheap as possible. Preferably under $1,000 if that is at all possible, so I want the best bang for my buck. I will be overclocking so tell me if the parts I chose are best for overclocking. I also want the system to be fairly quite since it will be on 24/7 and I will be sleeping next to it.

Also remember this is my first build. It will be used for gaming which is kind of obvious. If I need anything else then tell me. If I can get anything cheaper without losing anything or much at all then tell me.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

No suggestions to make it even cheaper or anything? I want it as cheap as possible so every bit saved helps. I'm also still looking for a case. I seem to like both the Super Lanboy and Lian Li PC-65.

Also is Roswill a good company? I can buy their X800XL for $16 cheaper.

Can't can't get cheaper unless you went with a 3000+ instead of the 3200+.

For only $16.00 more, I would get the ATI made X800XL. They have a better warranty I believe.

Rosewill = meh :-/

Can't really make it any cheaper without changing some parts...let's see. You sure you really need 200GB? I have a 160gb hard drive, and I still have about 130 left...

Ahh, that's all I can think of. You've got quite a beast there already.

Well a 3000+ OCs to maybe 100 - 200mhz less than like a 3500+ would, but not that much of a difference. Cuz I know people with 3000+s sometimes have trouble hitting 2.5ghz, when I can hit 2.5ghz on my 3500+ on almost stock voltage (1.43)

It matters a little bit. If you use a 9x multi with your 3200+, then it will be the same as a 3000+ (same silicon except the multi), but if a 10x multi gives you a higher clock, the 3200+ will be better. That is the gamble you take with 3000+, 3200+, and with Venice, the 3500+ also. Since you'll be buying in a month or two, you will want an A64 Venice core. I would go with (and plan to upgrade to) the 3200+, because I don't want to have to raise the HTT (FSB) so high to reach my max overclock.

Looks great. If I were to buy right now mine would very close to that.
However, why get a $7 surge protector for a $1300 system? You might look at better one.

I changed the case to a Sonata and went with a smaller 80GB drive to save costs. You think that PSU would be good enough for this system when overclocked?

The rule of thumb is to buy the largest HDD you can afford, I wouldn't skimp on this essential piece of hardware if I were you and get at least a 200 gig drive.

G.Skill RAM would save you ~$25.

Other than this, areas you can cut costs are the CPU & Video Card.

If going with the DFI boards, do NOT get anything that remotely resembles value RAM.

The OCZ RAM I picked has UTT chips. Going with the G.Skill RAM with the DFI would just be stupid.

AH don't get a X800XL cause its not really good its the "cheap" model of an X800

Somebody told me that the added cost of the 6800GT would be worth it because a lot of games at this point use Pixel Shader 3.0. Is this true?
