I've been buying these 650w and 750w units for a good long time. Something very bad has happened. I ordered two of the $90 specials from last week and they just arrived. I'm here to report that their is a new design which is slight and no big issue, but the modular cables are cheap and pathetic. No more high quality connectors that you see in all the pics. These cords are anemic, not acceptable for the price. You get better quality in the cheapo Corsair builder units. To buoy margins, it appears we now must lower our expectations of the X-series going forward. No wonder why they've been on sale. Beware!

Heads up to Newegg and Amazon, you need to update your pics of the actual product.

I received mine yesterday also and noticed the same. The MB cable is like before and is all black, which is nice. The others are molded ribbon cables.

So, soooo disappointed that the sleeved cables are gone. Did you also notice that the PCIE connector on the 650 unit are pinned different now too? I too am going to call Seasonic for an explanation about the 650w quality cuts. Seems like the units are manufactured all together different too. I'm going to open one up for an autopsy and examine more. Cheap Basterds!

The 750w just arrived and it's identical to what we are used to. Same identical designed unit and the lux sleeved cables. Whew!

That does look a bit cheap, but they also look better in my opinion than the original cables. The original cables are bright colored and the black sleeving doesn't cover the area near the connector - I'd rather have all black cables. But it'd be better with black cables that were sleeved..

Look exactly like the ribbon cables Corsair's been using since Corsair's been selling power supplies with modular cables. Work well but a tad stiff. No cheapness found.

I'm in need of a New PSU and looking a 750W unit. I don't like the reviews I read about the Corsair AX Gold with a slight discrepancy in the 3v Rail and reported LIGHT, CHEAP Casing and Cables. From what I gather the older Corsair HX750W & Seasonic X750 with the slight modulation in the 5v Rail is Heavier and Built like a Tank with Great Cables.

I'm presently comparing the Corsair HX750W Vs Seasonic x760 thinking Seasonic may not have skimped on the Casing and Cable Quality - Anyone know? - Other words I lean toward the Corsair HX750W.

In Reviews, these PSU Score 9.5 and Editor Choice Awards and can hit 900Watts with 85% Plus Efficiency, Priced between $120 to $150. They are Great PSU's in my opinion. They should be much cheaper come the new year.

i think kleinkinstein mentioned in another thread that he recently took delivery of both an X650 and an X750, and while the X650 had minor changes and the slightly cheaper cables, the X750 did not. of course who knows if or when they'll start doing the same w/ the X750.

btw, i'd still take an X750 over an HX750, cheaper cables or not...IMO you need to step up to Corsair's AX series to get an apples to apples comparison w/ SeaSonic's X series.

I agree and Advertizement say so but Reviews really can't find much difference between the HX750 a X750 PSU's so I want the better Casing and Cables ;o)

The Corsair AX750 and Seasonic X760 are apparently updates to correct the 5v Rail Ripple but ended up with a 3v Rail Ripple with shady Cases and Cables.

The Ripples in either Rail are very slight and not an issue in my opinion, as both Corsair and Seasonic are one and the same but as kleinkinstein points out, it's a Casing and Cable quality Beware.

Therefore I believe the Older Tried and Proven Corsair HX750W Kit with the Better Case & Cables is still the Best Deal as per Watt/Price after New Years 2012 unless the price drops for the X760 and AX with their Shit Casing and Cables.

I'm only commenting on Advertizement and Reviews because I'm in the market for this Unit and have NO On-Hand Experience with these 9.5 Editor Choice PSU's.

Building: ASUS P8Z68-vPro Gen3/ i7 2700K/16G Samsung DDR3L MV-3V4G3D/US and looking for the REST.

Damn, the X650 I got a month and a half ago had the sleeved cables. To be honest, I was disappointed coming from a Corsair HX620 that had those black ribbon cables. I'm not sure how the ribbon ones look "cheap," the wire gauge is fine, and they look much more finished than the half-assed sleeving the Seasonic ones have.

Sleeved cabling != superior quality. If there is anything beneficial with sleeved cabling is aesthetics. As for the aforementioned Seasonic cables, they look fine to me. I could probably do my own sleeving with them using the wider sleeving for SATA cables.

I believe in regards to Sleeved Vs Ribbon Cabling is personal preference, but the Case and Cable coverings must be quality and all Interfaces snap securely in place.

I kinda like the idea of Ribbon Cabling myself but I don't like the reviews I've been reading about the newer AX750, x750's and x760i being much lighter with flimsy Cases and Connectors that come loose. If this is true, I would sooner buy the older HX750 kit with the Ribbon Cables even if the efficiency is slightly lower as they are all rated 9.5 and Editor Choice units.

I have two Corsair AX series... an 850 and a 750. I also have a Seasonic X-560. I can tell you the Seasonic cables feel cheaper. They're not sleeved but I think that's just the main component making it feel cheaper. I wouldn't say it's bad. The performance of the PSU is what matters in the end. I got the Corsairs because they were cheaper.

Pretty intelligent position to take. I agree.

My only real issue is Seasonic brand often sells for a premium over the rebadged or rebranded variants.

If they want to sell for more then they shouldn't cut corners.

Otherwise there's little value in a seasonic.

I would happily take seasonic for same or less money but if I am going to have to spend more then it should be superior quality or have some aspect making it a good value at that higher price.
