The US also elected a half-black president in case you missed that one too.

I started watching Earl during it's first season and thought it was really funny. By the end it got pretty terrible. I'm not surprised at all that it got canceled. They got too far away from what made the show work - the list!

I'm suprised that no one has mentioned Chuck!

According to the NBC.com Chuck forum, thanks to a massive viewer letter writing campaign and support of those same viewers to their top sponsor Subway, it WILL be coming back for a 3rd season in March 2010 (after the 2010 Winter Olymics) for 12 episodes. The kicker is that it will be in the Monday 8PM timeslot, where Heroes is right now, so either that will help then due to the already strong viewership in that time slot or hurt them because of some of the other more popular shows at that time (one of which will be 24).

Didn't we have a massive thread about this somewhere?

Let me see if the search will work again.

They gave heroes and chuck the same timeslot next year, heroes gets the go durign the first half, chuck picks up after the break.

Some of the shows I'm looking forward to and their start dates (from wikipedia). If you've heard any different, post here and let me know.

Castle - Sept. 21
30 Rock - Oct. 15
Dollhouse - Sept. 25
Fringe - Sept. 17
Legend of the Seeker - Nov. 7
Parks & Recreation - Sept. 17
The Office - Sept. 17
Big Bang Theory - Sept. 24

There's nothing on your list of which I've ever (voluntarily) watched a full episode.
(my wife likes Castle...so sometimes, I'll watch part of it with her...then disappear and nef on ATOT)

As for "Earl," THANK GAWD it's finally over. One of the stupidest shows I've ever seen. IMO, even worse than "The Office." (which I can not stand.)

As the years go by, TV gets worse and worse...Bruce Springsteen only scratched the surface of satellite television with "57 Channels and Nothing On."

wow, if it is like the Office but not as good, that must be the biggest steaming pile of shit ever created

But the Office is so fucking good.

no kidding. f*ck fox for screwing over terminator.

and i'm a bit sick of all the 30 rock praise. i got tired of the show during its first season, it was way too "precious".

ah well, back to cable. pawn stars is an interesting new show. las vegas family owned high end pawn shop. kinda like a warped antiques road show with cussing.

Can't wait for new Fringe. That show was the best new show last season, IMO. And I agree with BoomerD: Cable is becoming more and more useless to me, except for Discovery, NESN, and SciFi. I wish I could somehow get OTA and those channels and save myself $60 a month; but my apartment is essentially a Faraday cage of tin ceilings and old pipes. NOTHING gets in here.

mad men starts tomorrow
always sunny in philly is starting again soon too.

30 rock is always good - makes up for when the office sucks. I've never watched a 30 rock episode and thought it was bad.

I'm glad its coming back but those are some tough odds.

Its 13 episodes and unless its pulls out some good numbers, or Leno and whatever new show they have hits the crapper I don't see it surviving a 4th. It got a big promo from the superbowl gets 1 episode then gets bumped by Obama. couple more episodes then gets bumped again.

Unless they are planning on a big promo during the olympics, an 11 month absence from tv will hurt ratings.

Look at what the writers strike did to shows starting out that season. Only Big Bang Theory and Chuck survive to get a 3rd season. All others the viewers never came back. and where canned.

New season of Curb Your Enthusiasm starts next month (sept 20), and Dexter starts a week later.

How many times has Curb been cancelled now? You'd think they would have learned their lesson by now. Granted it was a pretty funny show.

To be honest, I don't think that I'll miss Earl all that much. It was almost like they were starting to run out of redneck jokes last season, and the show was starting to become a parody of itself.

I wouldn't mind a 2 hour series finale, though!
