Hello I am planning to build a new SFF box, see what you think and post any thoughts, some parts will come from another machine.

Specs:
AOpen XC Cube nForce2/Soltek EQ3702 SFF - Not sure which
AMD 2700+ T-bred/2600+ T-bred - Not sure which
2 * 512Mb Corsair PC3200 Platinum
LG CDRW - Own
Maxtor 30Gb 7200rpm OS
WD 120Gb 7200rpm Storage - Own
GeForce Ti4400 128Mb - Own
Creative Audigy 2 ZS - Own

What do you think, I really want this machine to be as quite as possible, while looking good and not taking up much space.

Agreed on both. Get a Barton 2600+ and onboard sound (if you can bear it). It's actually not bad at all, might not be as good as Audigy 2 ZS but hey...

Not considering the SN45G?

Thanks for the replys

I all ready have the Sn41G2

But I very much like the AOpen XC Cube.

I very much like the Audigy 2 ZS and as I own one I might as well use it.

i this New Box will replace my main machine, soo I will also up grade the graphics card the Ti4400 is getting a bit old

I may grab one of these to build a rig for my brother. Some questions, please.

Does it do 200MHz FSB?
Is that PS good enough for a Radeon 9800?
Does it have an external 3.5" bay for a floppy?
Can you list your system specs?

Boy, that may or may not be quiet, depending on what your tolerances are. The 2600+ would run cooler, but with Corsair PC3200 it looks like you are planning to overclock. That will increase noise. Go with PC2700 and don't overclock if you want to keep the noise down.

Also, 2 7200RPM drives will be noisier. Maybe cut it to 1 7200RPM drive or 1 7200RPM and 1 5400RPM drive (for storage) to cut down on more noise. BTW, Seagate Barracudas have a rep for being quiet.

Video card fans are also not good for noise. You could try out a Sapphire 9600XT Ultimate Edition (since you mentioned upgrading), since it is fanless.

Just some thoughts on how to keep it cool and quiet...
