New System for me

I'm wondering if any hardware is good for my future gaming pc which I will buy in summer.. give me a feedback about those hardware.. tell me wut u think abt my future gaming pc spec

-AMD 64bit 3500+ "Winchester" 90nm
-Westen Digital 200GB SATA150 HDD
-ASUS A8N SLI-Deluxe MOBO
-Corsair TWIN 1.0 GB (2x512MB)
-Plextor DVD Burner
-256MB BFG Geforce 6800GT
-Thermaktake Dream Case w/ window side (Black)
-550 CoolMax Power Supply (Black)
-17" Dell LCD Monitor

im not crazy about the power supply. i see lots with ocz.....antec....fortron. alot here like seasonic.

Looks pretty nice, but you're gonna pay quite a bit for the CPU.

I wouldn't go with that PSU. Pick up a Fortron, Seasonic, Antec or another good brand name.

You need to spend more time in gen. hardware then.


I must agree that you need a better PSU. I like Enermax and OCZ myself.

You'll spend a lot for that asus sli mobo and processor, but they're good products. You could actually save some and get a 3000 or 3200 and overclock them easily to 3500 speeds.
Agreed that you should go with OCZ, Fortron, or Antec power supplies. Coolmax, despite the 550w power rating, probably is sub-par in performance.

how did you come to that conclusion? i have a psu made by "Bob's power supplies"...and it powers my water cooling system just great.

Most of the components are OK, except for the PSU -- get either an Antec Truepower 550W or an Enermax All in One 600W, or even the Superflower 500W with a 14cm fan.

Drop the SLI board, pick up the DFI if you're going to overclock or the MSI if you're not overclocking. Swap out that Winchester for a Venice core, as they're only a couple bucks more. You're never going to need SLI; that 6800 GT is plenty. When you ever do feel the need to upgrade your vid card, next gen cards are just around the corner, so you don't want to waste like $800 on 2 cards now when they can be outperformed by a like $400 card in a couple of months.
